Two of them have been charged with an attempted lynching.

Sean Purdy and Jerry Cox are charged with various crimes, including confinement and battery against a 36-year-old Bloomington, Ind., man, Vauhxx Booker, according to the Indianapolis Star. Monroe County Prosecutor Erika Oliphant has filed two active warrants for the two men and says Booker will face no charges.

Purdy is charged with criminal confinement, battery resulting in injury and intimidation, all felonies. Cox is charged with aiding or causing criminal confinement, felony battery resulting in injury, intimidation and two misdemeanor counts of battery.

The article points out the Purdy has four attorneys representing him.

Also, a woman drove into a protest that was highlighting this incident.

Following a peaceful Black Lives Matter demonstration in support of Booker last Monday at the Monroe County Courthouse in Bloomington, two people were injured after being struck with a car. Christi Bennett of Greenfield, Ind., was booked into the Monroe County Jail two days later on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness and leaving the scene of an accident, a jail official said. She was later released after posting $500 bond.

It's not even whataboutism, it's racist. The implication being that until black people are all perfect and don't do anything bad among their own numbers, anything done to them by the police or system doesn't matter. Because look, this one black guy hurt another so it's fine.

Gonna stop there though because engaging with someone who thinks black on black crime is even a talking point that belongs in a discussion about cops is just not worth it.

Anyone who would argue that Cops shouldn't be held accountable or that reforms don't need to happen is being a dense fucking tart. Its pretty clear there is a "bully" problem, power hungry asshole problem, and an actual racism problem among some police, not just "Leftist Racism", real racism, and that needs to be acknowledged and changed. This, is not something I would ever argue against because I've seen how these police act when they feel they are untouchable and they will suffer no repercussions for their actions. These assholes need to be weeded out and treated like the criminals they are. There are good Police, but there are far to many levels of protection in place that mean the bad ones get away with anything they want, and that kind of power will eventually corrupt even the good ones.

Fixing Police Brutality is an important issue. Acknowledging and addressing the equally disturbing problem of black on black violence that happens in alarming numbers thats a part of day to day life in low income black communities is also an important issue. I mean, in St Louis, theres usually at least 1-2 murders every single night in black communities. 1-2 people die a DAY, in just St Louis. Like it happens so much its barely news worthy here anymore unless the murdered black person was a kid. My brother works security at the local Hospital on the edge of north city and they get at least 1 "Dump" a week of some dude with a bullet wound thrown out of a car at the doorstep. Sometimes they live, sometimes they don't.

I think its stupid to compare apples to oranges, Black on Black violence and Police Brutality are apples to oranges. I want black communities to thrive, fixing the police will be applying a bandage to a sucking chest wound, there will still be a lot of work to go... but I'm also pretty certain you all know that too, and it just so happens this thread is not the place to placate the whatabouts.

Side note: I think it needs to be realized by some people that the violence in these areas has a lot less to do with Skin color as it has to do with poverty.

The again part. Also why don't you address white on white crime or Hispanic on Hispanic crime. Simply using black on black crime and ignoring the fact that people commit crimes against each other when they're located near each other is a bad look and hurts your credibility.

If there are all these good cops why haven't Breonna Taylor's murderers been arrested or condemned or fired. Why are there so many recorded instances of police brutality and the police force themselves never protest against these bad cops?
