Should have just had money.
We tolerate state violence because it's spread out and so ingrained in our culture that it's seldom brought to light except in the extreme cases when an innocent victim is actually murdered by law enforcement. If it's less than that, we're so jaded to it that it doesn't even register. Violent responses are covered extensively because it's so rare by comparison, but the reality is aggrieved citizens aren't reproducing one one-thousandth of the violence regularly done to them.
If the state were a good faith actor in these times than the people turning violent would be a signal to call for public meetings to hear the citizens complaints and address them - in this case police reform. When the state meets violence by increasing the same type of violence that finally led to the eruption in the first place, they are not the ones I feel sympathy for.

Hm.. is this the hill to die on? Citizens of these violent protests have done one one thousandth of the violence done by police?
I'm not sure
I think it's a valid point.
Like, what the fuck kind of weapons are these protesters wielding?
Water bottles? Oh no! Better break out the tear gas and riot gear!
Believe me, the more violent and exaggerated the response from the police and these unmarked Feds bring the more people are going to start rebelling against this shit.
So the better question is whether this is the hill conservatives want to die on.
