It started because I complained that it was going to take 3-4 days for my wife to get tested. Which she finally did and is negative. Still has a fever of 102 as of this morning. I half jokingly thanked Trump for the lack on testing and HC jumped in waving big doc dick and said it was stupid to blame Trump. Then, last night, Trump says he asked to slow testing. LOL

Meanwhile in California it is running taxpayers $50M/week to provide "free" testing. People showing symptoms jump to the front of the line. The running 7-day positive test rate for the state is 4.6%. I should get tested since I'm an essential worker, but I'm not showing symptoms.

Seeing as I recently had to go through some dumb ass hoops to get tested here in Florida, just go to the Hard Rock stadium. It's drive-thru, free, and results come in 4-5 days. There are some other places I found out about that are also free but you gotta make an appointment though the results are slightly faster from what they said.

I really wish they'd separate the San Francisco region from the rest of the bay area. Alameda county is already huge enough as it stretches from north Oakland/Berkeley/Emeryville to as far south as Fremont, and east out to Livermore.

That said I think our county is going to have a jump again. They just opened up for outdoor seating for dining this weekend as well as indoor shopping malls.

It makes sense if there is a lot of commute between the areas. Kissimmee and Orlando are both huge areas in their own right, but pretty much all residents from both cities commute back and forth on the regular, sometimes daily.

Idk what symptoms your wife has, but a negative test DOES NOT MEAN she does not have COVID. False reassurance of negative tests is actually dangerous. This is precisely why we do not rely on unreliable rapid tests for things we can diagnose clinically (in the ER). Yes, I work you up for other causes of fever (UTI, other GI bugs, meningitis, bacterial PNA, etc, as clinically indicated), but swabbing every patient who is not sick enough to be admitted can lead to dangerous situations unless dealt with correctly. You have to know the test you are sending and how to interpret and make a proper disposition based on the results.

The only reason I actually want to send COVID-19 swabs for people I am sending home currently is to make them believe that they need to quarantine (people are stupid), and the policy that I need a positive test to give out a home pulseox (also a retarded rule).

I mean, guys, I seriously hate to be that guy but he's right. Medicine is a complicated fucking profession and justifying a bill is harder than you think when you work for a hospital system.

I maintain that unless he's outright saying "I agree with Trump that testing makes us look bad so I'm doing it less on purpose" you're going down the wrong rabbit hole.
