We were grocery shopping a night or two ago and I saw a lady with her overweight teenage son by she strawberries without masks so I said to my wife let's head to the frozen section then come back and get the strawberries later I don't feel like witnessing a facebook video.

Maybe they fixed it by now, but iirc the true tragedy here is that after they get out they cannot get jobs as firefighters because they have a record.

I went to Wildwood NJ for a few days because I got a free hotel room and I'd say roughly only a third of the people there were wearing masks, and that is being generous. The food places on the boardwalk were packing people into the seating areas like it was a chicken truck. Very few employees were wearing them, and only a couple stores were requiring them to enter. The beach was easy enough to distance from others but the boardwalk was packed the whole time I was there.

I wasn't expecting everyone to be wearing them but its like the virus doesn't exist when you get within a mile of the ocean.

New Zealand has 29 new cases and has gone into lockdown.

There are four “alert levels” in New Zealand, and Auckland has been on Level 3 since Wednesday.

The rest of the country is on Level 2, and Ms Ardern said both would be extended.

New Zealand has had success containing coronavirus, and went 102 days without a community transmission.

The PM said the decision to extend the restrictions was “in keeping with our cautionary approach and New Zealand's philosophy of going hard and going early”.

She said that, in 12 days’ time, she thought “the cluster will be identified, will be isolated, and we can move to Level 2 in Auckland with confidence”.

All 29 cases “remain linked to one cluster centred in Auckland”, Ms Ardern said, adding that 38 people are in government quarantine.

But she said that, although the first cases of the new outbreak were confirmed in Auckland on Tuesday, contact-tracing had uncovered an earlier case, involving a shop worker in the Mt Wellington district of Auckland who became sick on 31 July.
