Over 90 kids in my area went to Myrtle Beach for graduation shenanigans, came back infected.
Edit: fixed link, dunno what my copy paste did there
Honestly... the fire is burning and I don't know if we can stop it. All I can hope for is that it takes out the dumber among us. It's gonna kill good people for sure, older folks and folks with compromised immunities... but I'm not sure we can stop it with the folks who are currently in charge. I'm trying to find a positive in this somehow, it's fucking hard.
I think it's kinda foolish to think there wasn't some contribution due to the BLM protests. Thankfully, the mask-wearing seems to be high (based on photos/videos I've seen), but I saw very little social distancing. However, you would have to ask yourself which is more important to you. I totally get why people are so fed up, that the Corona took a back seat in this situation, and don't blame anyone at all for protesting. We are starting to see some progress in this area that was very much needed. But, we can't deny there were going to be some negative side effects.
Karens et. al. are worse because they were usually out for a poor reason, and weren't wearing masks/social distancing not for any viable reason, only because FUCK YEA 'MURICA reasons.
On another note:
It's been sadly hilarious reading FB posts from a college friend and my sister. Both live in Florida (within about 20 min of each other if my memory serves correctly). Friend has gone off the deep end and posting constantly "facts" that say Florida is fine and the cases are low. While sister is posting nonstop how cases are super high and hospitals are full and we're leading to dead bodies in the street.
What I am trying to say is: GL Florida.

Covid related with a dash of Florida thrown in.
I found out my neighbors have it.
I'm not too worried though cause they hardly ever speak to me. They both have very busy jobs. I actually found out from someone else. They said they are doing ok so far and just have the usual symptoms of dry cough, mild fever, loss of smell.. The husband is an essential worker and he got it from work. More than a dozen other people were he works tested positive also. I hope they get through it ok cause they are nice people. It did make me freak out a little. I keep in touch with family and relatives and as far as I know none of them have it and no one I know has it.. then bam! Suddenly someone right next door has it.
Is there any actual health concern for wearing a mask? I'm genuinely curious. I had four 20-30ish yr olds refuse to wear one when entering my work due to "health reasons". They all shopped for roughly 10-20min, so what health issue could plague a fit young person into not wearing a mask. Mind you, I know the answer but if something actually exists, it'll ease my anger. One blonde white bitch pulled out this bullshit "Face Mask Exempt Card" which isn't a fucking thing and I can't wait to tell her that's not an official ADA card.
My way of fighting back against their bullshit though is I'm trying to get every cashier to refuse to ring them up due to safety concerns. So, the second they come to the register they'll stop and get leadership to take care of them. If these shitbags want to take a stance, I'll be damn sure to put them on their pedestal.
Only health risk I've heard is with newborns to 1YOs due to difficulty of breathing. Not sure if that's been debunked or not.
This study is useless at present. You know that you won't see the true spike from this for 6-8 weeks minimum given healthy people's asymptomatic spread rate and incubation time.
CDC disagrees with all of you saying "they all wearing masks during their protests so it's fine" hurr durr

Karen going to the grocery store w/o a mask is extremely low risk. Dumb, but low risk. Per the CDC.
Cool. Explain all then maskless states seeing case spikes and we're solid.
Listen to the CDC, don't listen to them. Can we make up our mind?
