The early arguments not to wear a mask will forever be a head scratcher for me. If it was to help prevent a shortage for medical professionals than just tell/encourage the public to wear/make their own cloth masks.

He has strongly signaled that they shouldn't be. Him continuing to not do it further tells his base not to. His general behavior claiming it's a hoax, it'll disappear, etc etc further pushes his base into not taking it seroiusly.

anecdotal but i went to rural VA last week and the difference between there and here in Raleigh is staggering, and it's not even close to being just Trump supporters, some of the biggest libs and Bernie supporters i know up there are just "over it" and have stopped wearing masks and isolating, these same people were scolding everyone on social media in May about going out etc... i went into a gas station with one on and you would have thought my hair was on fire. it's a mindset/regional thing more than just trump covertly signaling to his followers not to wear them.

was relieved that my trump supporting dad was like these people are nuts and wears a medical one every where he goes.

If youre talking like he hasn't discouraged mask use, hasnt removed social distancing from his events and rallies, obfuscated or downright hid positive staff members at his events, then idk what to tell you. I guess Trump tweeting a while back to "Liberate (insert state)" doesn't count for anything either. This was specifically aimed at states and cities that were implementing and trying to enforce social distancing and mask wearing guidelines. Wonder what message you're suppose to take from that.

My guy, his campaign literally took away social distancing seating at their last major event in Tulsa, and handed out masks but didn't require they be used indoors.

What else do you want? You gonna tell me trump was right to not infringe on their freedumbs and force them to wear a mask at a political rally featuring the most powerful, and one of the most vulnerable to the virus, men in the world? Trump is absolutely not encouraging mask use, idk what other metric you want

When he starts wearing a mask himself and directly tells his followers at a campaign rally that they should be wearing masks. When his rallies mandate that people wear a mask. Then you can come back to me.

But also remember that that still wouldn't undo the months of damage he has already done by politicising mask wearing.
