1. I don’t feel bad for the guy
2. I don’t wish death on him
3. If he does die though, fuck em
i have no problem rationalizing this way
Its simple action-reaction. What you believe in doesn't negate reality from happening. The fact that for people like him, everything he doesn't want to believe in is fake, means that you really do want people like him to get it. Its the only way to wake them up, and when people like him wield power over the lives of innocents, its the only way to help them.
"It was fake news until I got it. Now its a real thing and we need to stop it! The fact that it happened to you was fake news. The fact that it happened to me means its reality!"
Its a completely selfish and arrogant line of thinking, yet its extremely pervasive in this world. You have to hope the simple reality of action-reaction results in change.
If his death (or hopefully, his struggle with the virus that so many have already went through) wakes his family, friends or fellow idiotic politicians up to the reality of this thing, instead of their head-in-the-sand line of self-belief, then its worth it.
You can say that its sad it has to come to this, but it is what it is.
There's no evidence Im aware of that the guy was a denier or thought covid was a hoax or even that he thought masks were ineffective. His reasons for voting no, as reported, were that he couldn't get answers on what type of masks and if there would be enough etc.. I personally would have voted yes but I dont find it to be a reason to hope someone dies or to gloat as if being ignorant or misguided is a justified reason for someone to fall ill or die.

True irony in this man's case, but ya'll are fucked up if you think he deserves to die.
Biggest problem is zero plan from schools on how to handle homeschooling when both parents work and there's nobody to provide the education.
The plan is one of those parents quits their job
Yup. If government can't get its shit together then back to one parent working one parent caring for the kids like its 1900s up in here.
Broward just confirmed theyre going 100% online this August. I didn't believe they'd do it but here we are. Idk whats gonna happen to the economy when a large fraction of it just plain can't work cause they gotta care for kids.

I think you're underestimating how many families depend on both incomes to survive. Given the choice between putting food on the table and helping little Timmy with his math homework, I think a lot of middle and high school students are going to be teaching themselves. Bootstraps, etc.
The economy is fucked whether kids go back to school or not. Shit isn't gonna fix itself if we just put everything back to normal and people keep dying.
The one working parent and one stay at home would be welcome for a lot of families. The only reason both parents work most of the time is because they have to. That said, some people just like to work (Myself included), but if pay was shifted to support this style of home again, this would allow families to choose to go back to 1/1 or have the money to hire childcare otherwise with two working parents.
I don't see it happening, but it would be nice.
And pandemic assistance dries up at the end of the month!

Its a nightmare problem without easy answers. Sure you can sit here and jeer about sending kids back to school if you dont put a single thought into any of the consequences of them staying home for the next school year.
Sure, but then there's a pandemic ravaging the population and leaving terrible scars behind on those that survive so maybe Timmy can just learn math from the family pc for half of 3rd grade until the vaccine is likely released early next year
But also the economy. Idk, everyones priorities are different

my priority is global carbon emissions and let me tell you by god nowhere near enough humans have died yet
Yeah it sounds simple if you don't bother to think it all through
Says the man literally advocating sending children to their deaths without any thought at all.
I havent advocated anything at all
certainly not literally
Yeah I know, which is why talking with you is a waste of time and you're just a shitty troll.
