Although, according to Swedish law, parents have the right to reduce their work days to 6 hours a day for their youngest child, up until that child is 8 years old. Alternatively they can start earlier or work later some days, if they prefer that. Their employer has to be able to accommodate that.
Also; in Sweden parents can take up to 480 days off of work when their child is born (each birth). Out of these 40 days, 90 days are reserved for each parent, meaning the mom can't take all 480 days, she can only take 390 at the most. Additionally, The first 10 days both parents can be off work per child, so if you get twins, both parents can be home for 20 days. Although the father has a right to 240 days, statistically, fathers takes out roughly 144 of those days in Sweden (as of 2019).
Do note that parents also get paid during this time based on their salary.
