Extremely dumb to reopen bars and indoor dining, but we've closed them again. Not sure what else there is to do. Masks are already required everywhere basically.

* Curbside only for food service/retail
* <=25% in grocery stores and/or curbside only
* Close all retail/public places that isn't essential
* Jail time/felony for being unmasked in public for any reason, maybe even fines for being outside non-essentially
* Social services to deliver supplies to those testing positive. Public housing for those contact traced until their quarantine is over. Re-purpose all public facilities for this. Appropriate all vacant apartments from landlords and all airbnb/hotels/etc.

You can do a lot more but that requires actually being progressive about stopping the spread with no qualifiers

with the idiotic uproar over suggestions to wear masks... can you actually imagine what would happen with legal ramifications to not wearing them, or being outside without an essential reason? The American public is so hung up on "Freedom" meaning "no one can tell me what to do"...

Wonder what would happen if the government imposed a tax on people that refused to wear masks in public- a tax that went to pay for the healthcare required from treating Covid patients. This tax wouldn't be very high if fewer patients were admitted to the hospitals because more people would wear masks in public. Conversely the toll would be far greater if they did not.

Hardly. I think only small localities like Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, and We Ho are enforcing them with fines. LA county sheriff and LAPD have other stuff to worry about. And I believe Orange county cops are not doling out fines.

I remember talking to people about this when it was happening in NY. The response, sadly, was 'how do I know that picture isn't from somewhere else?' or 'I don't see any bodies' or 'fake news'. Maybe seeing it in R states will make a difference?

I know this isn't by the government, but i went to Krogers yesterday and they had two managers standing at the entry. The signs all said masks required to enter. They were getting an ear full while i was walking in by someone they were not allowing in the store. I'm glad they, as managers, are doing it instead of forcing some kid that works there to do it.
