Eh, I would have to take the couch apart again and reassemble it to move, with everything attached it weighs like 1000lbs. I'm the only one using it and it doesn't bother me.

If you are that desperate, get a rotating wall mount on the TV.

That is just too nice a couch to make it look god awful with the positioning.

Well at the end of the day this isn't where the couch is going to live. I'm buying good furniture now in anticipation of going house hunting next year and not wanting to have to buy thousands of dollars worth of stuff right after closing.

Well when you do eventually move it, make sure it’s either a. Along a wall b. Sectioning off a square shaped area (only if you have a large opened-space floor plan.)

Fuck it. When you get the house show us a picture of the living room before you move.

Playing Animal Crossing for the past year does that to people.

Couch looks nice, I agree about the walls needing stuff on them though.

Put the couch in the right spot, buy a proper coffee table that fits the now correctly placed couch, profit. It will look worlds better, even when it's just you.

You can change the TV angle with a good wall mount instead of dropping a huge sectional awkwardly in the middle of the room to fit the stationary TV. I bought this one, but you can get more range of articulation for a few bucks more if you want a bigger angle.

    Since I'm bored at work.

The sectional has a "long" span and a recliner*, and ideally you'd want the long span facing the TV. In the current configuration that's not possible without moving the TV to a different location (unless that sectional can come apart and move the recliner to the other side). The recliner kinda sucks because you're forced into a weird position, but in general you should not have any visual issues when sitting there looking at the TV from an angle as long as the couch isn't butting up against the TV. That's where you gotta find that goldilocks of couch to TV proximity - too close and the recliner seat gets a sharp angle to the TV.

As for your original question about a coffee table, you'll want a rectangular table (but not for the current configuration of your couch). I'd recommend something subtle since you have nothing in the way of interior decoration, and a simple coffee table design can adapt to new spaces pretty easily. A wood and glass table could be nice, or all wood (preferably painted, but natural/stained wood would look good if you had hardwood floors imo). I would avoid a metal table, or "patio furniture" style tables. The only issue with a painted table is that nicks and mars are very noticeable, and generally the construction is cheap MDF (medium density fiberboard) or plywood a la IKEA furniture. A high-quality table will use natural wood joinery and NOT nails/screws (I built my own table with mortise/tenon joints, and this bad boy ain't falling apart any time soon).

*EDIT: I think the picture was a bit distorted when I looked at it. Is the couch equal lengths on each leg? If so ignore the long span stuff. In my head I'm thinking of a traditional sectional couch with a short leg and long leg if you will.

I thought I'd crow about something that some of you may think is a little win, but it's a HUGE one.

For years, I've had to give up my full SSI check to help keep the house note down. Due to my sister dying, we renegotiated the budget; I'M NOW AS OF NEXT MONTH, GOING TO BE GETTING A ALLOWANCE FROM NOW ON. No more having to donate plasma for my spending cash unless I want to get a extra $100 a month. (Which I probably will do once I get my driver's license. Hate having to ask for rides all the fraggin' time to places that I should be able to get to on my own, so that's the next Big Nasty RL Quest I'm going to try to clear.) No more things like Swagbucks for extra spending money, tho I prolly will keep up some of that.

Yes, sis's death was horrible and I'm still getting over it. But there's no bad without some good. ^^

A meme gold rush? Classic viral images are selling as NFTs for thousands of dollars
In the past, monetizing a meme was nearly impossible for its creator. NFTs have changed that, leading to a meme "gold rush," experts say.
The image of Zoe Roth, her small face grinning somewhat ominously at the camera while firefighters work to save a burning home behind her, has made the rounds online for years.

The image of Roth, taken in 2005 near a planned and controlled burn, became an iconic meme known as "Disaster Girl."

Now, 16 years after the image was snapped, "Disaster Girl" has made Roth, 21, roughly $430,000.
Although a slew of notable memes have sold as NFTs, Caldwell said the person who arguably kicked off the recent "gold rush" was Chris Torres, the creator of the pixel art "Nyan Cat," a cat with a Pop-Tart body running ahead of a rainbow trail, who sold his creation for roughly $580,000, according to The New York Times.

If your paycheck has taxes withheld, ALWAYS file your taxes even at low income. You can get it all back (as you noticed) and more if you qualify for earned income tax credits and the like.
