I meant to address this but couldn't find the source I was remembering. Fortunately, this week's chapter in my criminology class saves the day!

There are also indications that children who are subject to all forms of childhood emotional and physical abuse may be more likely one day to use violence themselves; this can include emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional neglect, physical neglect, and observation of domestic violence. Sociologist Murray Straus reviewed the concept of discipline in a series of surveys and found a powerful relationship between exposure to physical punishment and later aggression. We now know that the more often a child is physically disciplined and the harsher the punishment, the more likely they will later engage in antisocial behaviors. When kids experience physical punishment they feel angry and unjustly treated and are more willing to defy their parents and engage in antisocial behavior. Abuse has long-term effects: Physical abuse leads to childhood antisocial behavior and later to adult criminality; emotional abuse is directly related to adult antisocial behavior. The more intense and longer lasting the abuse the more likely the later occurrence of adult criminality.

When thought about that way you're right, yeah. Privilege isn't something that necessarily needs to go away, rather it's something that everyone should have. It fits in that form of logic.
