I had a brief (bailed out because he was so dense) argument with a friend of an old roommate on FB who was so desperate to "both sides" this he said that Hillary founded BLM because she lost and so both parties were equally bad.

1) he's old and will likely die soon, so the cost of it is frequently overstated
2) it would make a very soft target for foreign adversaries that we might have to respond to if hit

I don't think so? I'm not 100% clear on who gets what protection for what time, but I think even the VP only gets protection while in office or something?
I doubt we're following around three generations of every presidential family.

iirc the protection only extends to the President's spouse and any children that are 18 and below. Grandchildren and adult children are excluded.
