I just checked our floor because I was curious. 12/18 patients are on dex. 2/3 of mine are on dex. The one patient that isn't, of mine, is waiting for placement and is asymptomatic.

I would expect any medical professional to try to keep themselves as far away as possible from others, knowing that they could have contracted it because of how infectious it is. I’d expect them to know that it is a shitty deal, it’s not fun, and that they’d want others to take it seriously so that they didn’t have more people coming in and potentially exposing them simply because they couldn’t be bothered to wear a mask. I’d expect them to not treat this cavalierly because of how horrible the thought is of some of these people dying alone because they can’t have visitors, being permanently scared for life for some currently unknown reason related to the disease, dying through no fault of their own, and because as a healthcare professional your job is to care. But maybe that’s just me.

I go directly from working covid to seeing patients all day in the psych clinic. I'm leaving the hospital in a few hours, showering here, changing clothes, and heading to the clinic. Probably 80% of my patients are telehealth, but I'm still seeing face to face cases. Our risk is pretty damn low because, in a revelation that should surprise no one, masks work.

ER is a different beast. He has no idea who is positive in most cases. I mean, he could wear an n95 for 12+ hours for every room, but honestly fuck that. And unless he's ordering rapid tests before he assesses, it's hard to justify going in every room with an n95. IDK anyone that does that.

We test any inpatients that are going for procedures before they go. And if they're on a regular medical floor, the nurses are only required to wear a surgical mask and goggles. And if a patient they swab for procedure comes back hot, they don't have to quarantine.even if that patient has been admitted for days and they've spent 3 shifts with them. Surgical masks are fine in most scenarios. Intubation, bipap, patient hacking up a lung, those things would require extra caution and maybe a shield. For confirmed cases, it's ways best to play it safe and just n95 it with a shield or goggles.

Also, I'm really surprised at the shit people are saying about decadron causing some kind of significant altered mental status and cognitive dysfunctions. I've been on it. And I give it more than just about any other drug. I don't see it. Reading reddit, you'd think they were giving him FGAs.

It's my understanding that the WH has a hospital suite equivalent to that of a PCU, if not just a general ward. The only thing it doesn't have is ICU-level care. It's entirely plausible if he's stable they could transfer him to a floor status and manage his care there.

I feel like that would be silly given this is the President but there are also rumors he was wanting to discharge AMA.

I see it happen all the time with addicts and narcissists.
