In a letter to Mr Hankison published by the Courier-Journal, Louisville Police interim chief Robert Schroeder wrote that his conduct was "a shock to the conscience" that "demands your termination".
Mr Hankison is accused of "blindly" firing 10 rounds into Ms Taylor's apartment, displaying "an extreme indifference to the value of human life".
"I am alarmed and stunned you used deadly force in this fashion," Mr Schroeder added.
"The result of your action seriously impedes the department's goal of providing the citizens of our city with the most professional law enforcement agency possible. I cannot tolerate this type of conduct by any member of the Louisville Metro Police Department."
Makes more sense now thanks, still somewhat an unfortunate series of events but if they didnt announce then like you said I see no issue with the boyfriends actions. Sounds like less of an accident now and more like recklessness I also didn't realize how willy nilly the officers shots were fired.
Officers that fired their weapons seems like should serve some time. I doubt they will get anything close to what anyone wants though. I also dont know all the fine details about how much we legally allow officers to get away with, and I dont mean like corruption, I mean we allow them a certain amount of legal leeway in these matters is my understanding. This whole no knock warrant stuff seems like bullshit though and the people at fault for that warrant share some blame too.
Whether they announced or not is disputed, you'll never believe who said what
The warrant was shady beyond no-knock. i dont remember all the details.
Well, I imagine most everyone but the cops are going to be disappointed with this ruling.
1 officer indicted on criminal charges.
3 wanton endangerment charges said to be Class D, mainly for stray bullets, which makes it possible he does no time at all from what I'm hearing.
Edited for correct charge/reason.
Whoever signed off on the warrant should be arrested. They put everyone in that situation.
You sign a no-knock warrant in a country that has the legal right to not only own firearms, but to use those firearms to defend their home; you're literally sending people to their death on either side.
Apparently max of 5 yrs, 15k bail.
That officer will not see one day of jail.
Town is going to burn down tonight.
NIMBY tho amirite
How fucking wild do you have to be to fire 10 rounds and 3 (or more) wind up in 3 different apartments? Four since you have to include Breonna Taylor's apt.
homemade signs! ! ! !
