So now the NCAA will be ran by the SEC, Big 10, and Texas. Thats...not much better overall than how it is right now.
i was thinking it was more “well then athletes can make money now, im taking my ball and going home, y’all figure it out”
Former FSU coach Bobby Bowden, 91, has announced retirement from public life following the diagnosis of an undisclosed terminal illness
I hope hes able to rest and enjoy a little before passing. Dad gum.

And this is why these endorsement deals need some sort of regulation behind them in terms of how much/how quick they have access to this kind of money. Thats absurd. Dude has not started a game at the college level and is a millionaire. On top of scholarship. On top of room + board. On top of campus celebrity.
Don't give a rat's ass what anyone says, that shit is going to ruin college football. That and the transfer portal. I was for them getting paid, until very recently. I thought there would be a lot more rules/procedure in place. I'm for them making some cash while playing, but there has got to be better structure and limits in place for whatever shred of competitive integrity college FB has left.
I've seen this sentiment thrown around a lot, but that's not the case. At a minimum, not every player receives a scholarship and not ever scholarship is the same. There have always been differences and teams worked around them just fine so far."Everything we've done in college football in the past is to be equal," Saban said in his appearance at SEC media days on Wednesday. "Now that's not going to be the case."
I mean, isn't that the NCAA's fault for not having any framework in place for what everyone saw as an eventuality?
just fyi if that kid was actually making close to 1mil it would have been out already. it’s not like anyone has to keep these deals a secret
I’m sure he has some deals and is making a lot of money, but nick 100% threw that number out there as a recruiting tool. he ain’t dumb
Probably good for both sides, but ultimately results in even worse records for both. And the 2-3 best teams from the SEC would have to essentially be guaranteed playoff spots. The difference is already drastic as is.
I dont see how or why the SEC would just accept Texas' broadcast contracts as is, and I dont see why Texas would want to give that up to go to the SEC.
Outside of an upstart Texas Tech or OSU, Texas and Oklahoma are almost guaranteed a playoff spot each year in the Big XII. Why would you leave that to have to deal with the SEC?
Yeah agreed that it may not be the best move for them. I forgot Texas has likes it’s own network and doubt the SEC would let that fly. If they are really interested though, they have done the math and have determined it’s more profitable to join the SEC long term.
Bobby Bowden’s children have confirmed his terminal medical condition is pancreatic cancer.
A&M being kept in the dark is just fantastic
Lots of reports out now. Sounds like a done deal.
Little mind boggling to me that the supposed vote is to take place next week and its allegedly 13-1.
Why are schools like Vandy, Carolina, Mizzou, and Kentucky not making a bigger fuss about this? Nothing about this shift makes any sense to me.
I'm sure that they have all agreed it means more $ for them over time. This move will make the Big 12 Championship Game essentially meaningless. GG to those remaining
