The main beats are as good as everyone says, but so far the side quests are honestly ff7r tier. Nothing truly exciting when I'm off the main story path, so far. Not super duper far into it yet tho

Titan Eikon fight is one of the most epic things I experienced in video games, but damn, they could shorten the whole thing by like a half easily, feel tired by the end.

Also, there's a gay kiss in the game, wonder how that will go in the media when people start getting to that scene :D

I've seen 2 separate reviews complain about side quests. One saying that they are too fetch quest like. The other saying they are too detail oriented and give too much character background.

Turns out the first was complaining about side quests in the first half of the game and the second about side quest in the second half of the game. So if you don't like them now, they will get better.

Turns out the first was complaining about side quests in the first half of the game and the second about side quest in the second half of the game. So if you don't like them now, they will get better.

Ehh, the forced side questing to move the story along is a choice alright. It sometimes feels like a ff7r side quest, but it's required to move the plot and boy oh boy is this part of the game certainly not perfect...nor exciting

I don't know if I can play this. I've been powering through but my god, my eyes are strained in MINUTES due to (I think) the un-toggleable motion blur. The game has nothing except performance mode as far as settings go.. what a disappointment.

Is there any reason to keep outdated equipment? Think I'm start selling everything

It's rough...and they use adaptive resolution that sometimes drops as low as 720p before upscaling which is why performance mode looks like such ass, only held up by 60fps and great animation work. I switched to quality mode just for the upgraded textures and AA, which helps with the motion blurring imo. You can't constantly switch back and forth though, you gotta give your eyes a session to adjust. Now it looks fine for me, but I def can't wait til PC when I can crank everything to 100%. Right now, even quality mode isn't 100% on this console and it probably can't reach that without a PS5 pro or PC.

I don't like that I am just leaving Martha's Rest and my story progression already says 34%.

Hopefully once the game opens up a bit more and theres more side content it'll slow down lol. I'm only like 10 hrs in I think

Yeah, no worries. Not sure how that progress is counted but it slows down considerably later on. I've been at 25% after playing for the first couple of hours of the game. Been constantly playing since yesterday and I'm now at 61%. I think % might be tied to chapters and they get considerably longer later

I was under the impression the game doesn't reach 60 fps even with performance mode. I know I got some frame dips in graphical mode during the prologue Eikon fight. The motion blur is kinda eye-straining for sure and unfortunately for me, seems I'll probably beat the game before that patch comes out. Maybe I'll wait to do NG+ when they allow motion blur to be removed.

I stopped at Martha's rest as my last save and going to restart soon. It feels like shit is really picking up fast though.

Ok thats great to hear. I kind of figured since I still only have 2 eikon abilities so there had to be a lot more content to do.

I'll probably end up adding a lot of time replaying the major fights too since they're all so epic

One complaint I do have is why no mini map?? I keep having to open the area map when exploring.

There isn't an option for it that im missing is there?

I hate it, the motion blur and quick combat often disorient me and after a fight I gotta open the map to figure out where to go

Wish we had more controller layouts right now (I know a patch will be bringing it later). Playing Strangers of Paradise right before this game has me fighting my muscle memory when it comes to dodging and parrying.
