FFT remake incoming.
It's gonna be a gacha.
Like War of the Visions.

To say nothing of the success of Triangle Strategy. I know there are multiple teams working on this and that, but come the fuck on, people. A slam dunk is a goddamn slam dunk. Too many old, stuffy Japanese men in moth-eaten business suits calling the shots at SE these days. What an inefficient company.
this game still runs like fuckin garbage
Same. I'm not playing your game, Japan. You can keep your gacha. You fucking ruined Breath of Fire, you shits.
They’ll manage it. With growing game sizes they’ll have to future proof themselves anyways, afaik MS/Activision Blizzard is working on bringing CoD to Nintendo platforms as well.
Assets will likely be smaller too, Doom Eternal for PS5 is almost 100Gigs while on switch its just a fraction that.
As long as SE gives green light to the grand return of Final Fantasy to Nintendo, they’ll get the details taken care of one way or other. It’d be a massive win-win situation for both parties.
Also, Nintendo’s job this time is much harder than the original Switch era. Back in 2017 they’ve got the idea good, entered a relatively competition-free handheld market and had a strong tailwind in COVID times where people had more disposable income than ever and other consoles were struggling with supply chain issues. People just wanted to spend and Switch was there, always available. Not to mention Animal Crossing, Ring Fit, etc.
Today they’ve got a serious competition in handheld market. Almost every PC manufacturer has one, and rumors out there that Sony is coming up with a new one (and holy hell it is expected to inherit the entire PS4 library).
A stronger “Switch” won’t be enough to pull another 100 million. They’ve got the advantage of Switch covering multi-generations giving them time to focus on development of a gimmicky device that’ll help them differentiate themselves in the market, sort technical limitations and seal necessary third party deals. Probably why they keep delaying the announcement.
Microsoft is also supposedly planning on a handheld console
Yeah, because they absolutely butchered the graphics to below-low settings, thus not needing to supply the medium-and-above resolution textures. Can't exactly do the same with something like XVI without it turning to complete mud like I saw on my aging 1060.
That said, with how the game performs on a PS5, there's not much headroom for weaker hardware without investing a fair bit of R&D getting their engine running smoother for the lower end, which who knows if that'll pay off with a Switch 2 audience for something like XVI. Even if Switch 2 has DLSS, that only carries you so much the lower the target resolution you go, and it requires devs to implement it properly in the first place.
Active Time Lore is one of the best things I’ve seen in gaming recently. FFS let this become an industry standard.
Have they updated this game to be playable yet? I really want to play but I am not gonna stutter my way through.
I never really had any issues since release. They have had a few updates along the way, don't know if they targeted performance tho
Were you playing it with dynamic resolution turned on? I remember from the more technical reviews they said the game was clearly designed around it being enabled
idk but i refuse to DL the whole game again after getting burned the 2nd time.
I'm pretty sure the demo got all the performance/bug fixes of the main game
21h into the game now and…
What I don’t like? Still haven’t seen the Game Over screen.
What I like? Everything else. 20 years ago I could complain that the world is not as open as a FF game should be, but today, with the abundance of open world games it doesn’t bother me at all.
Loved FF13, loving this one. Hoping for some side bosses that’ll provide challenge.
