Final Fantasy XVI (PC/PS5) - June 22, 2023

I beat this game recently, need to go back for trophies and to do the DLC. the sidequests I did do, didn't feel like the WORST. I was expecting 0 story or lore with the quests like XV but there is stuff there. The sidequests I did about how bad bearers got it in Northreach was pretty depressing.

I felt bad for not caring about Joshua "dying" in the last few scenes. I felt it so contrived? I didn't get him vacuuming Ultima. The performance was FANTASTIC but it still fell flat for me since it was contrived. I wish Joshua took a bullet or something instead of the way he died..

I hated fucking Ultima though. What a boring, self indulgent villain.

Yeah, I get they were some thematic symbolism villain and stuff but god bless doesn't mean you have to make Ultima so boring. God I wish Anabelle was the main bad. She had me fuming. Being a callous bitch is way better than the "Why do humans cling onto will?" garbage and the "No, Ultima WANTED you to blow up the crystals!" nonsense

I really liked when they broke the first crystal and this otherworldly creature came out of the void. Kinda wish that happened more than once.

I didn't like it because it robbed us of the best Cid they've ever done.

I also wish they would have elaborated a little bit about how Cid knew as much as he did about Clive and Ultima.

That would totally happen in Stranger of Paradise.

Followed by Clive making a heartfelt speech about love for his family, only to have Ultima go "bullshit, Mythos", pulling out a cell phone, and floating away while Limp Bizkit blasts.

FFXVI being added to the PS Plus Collection on June 16th. Don’t know if it includes the DLC or not.

It's usually only the base game, unless there was a specific release that included all the DLC, which afair XVI doesn't have

The DLC season pass is on sale until the end of tonight for $9 though, if you haven't already played it.
