You know it's one thing to point out how useless boycotts are in the modern age its quite another to shit on people for doing what they can to not give shitheads like Rowling and Roiland their money. It's Spicy though so I don't know what I'm expecting.

Yes, we should shutdown Warner Bros next to make sure JK doesn't get money.
There is nothing wrong with sticking to your guns. I avoid Starbucks and Amazon. However, I don't tell me wife she can't use them, and don't pretend I am accomplishing something by doing so. Someone like you, Beans, just gets off on their own perceived virtue.
There will be no victory from crusading against the new Harry Potter game. It is ineffective, misdirected, disorganized, obnoxious horseshit.
Nah, you're just a piece of shit, Spicy. You're the kind of dick who sees someone say a thing is bad so they won't do it and groans while going "oh HERE WE GO with some VIRTUE SIGNALING" and has to explain to people why they, in fact, are being the unreasonable ones by voicing that they don't like a thing.
So what specifically about what I just said would you like to provide a counterpoint to? I suppose I could just accept this as a "no to everything" though.
Ignoring things like virtue signaling though is your own choice. Everyone wants to pretend they are the good guy without any decent analysis. Often it's just being good by being against something, generally as a hive.
Love how Spicy is going full on "No ethical consumption under capitalism" a thing said exclusively by the kind of people still buying Harry Potter merch to tell themselves their not being an asshole.

You want counterpoints? That would require you to have a point for me to argue against.
"Yes, we should shutdown Warner Bros next to make sure JK doesn't get money."
Wow, what a fucking douchebag. "If the thing you're doing isn't solving 100% of the problem, it's not worth doing at all." Unless you can either go back in time and murder JK Rowling in the street, or find every version of all her work in the world and burn it all, doing anything else is pointless, including talking about not wanting to spend money on any of her work going forward. This is the viewpoint of a stupid person who will never accomplish anything in life because they aren't capable of seeing any reason to do anything.
"There will be no victory from crusading against the new Harry Potter game. It is ineffective, misdirected, disorganized, obnoxious horseshit."
You're just as fucking worthless as people who have their obviously wrong stances challenged on Twitter and respond with "whoa look at this triggered lib over here, calm down lefty." Someone says "I'm not going to buy the new Harry Potter game because I don't like JK Rowling," and YOU have to turn it into a personal crusade against the idea of crusading. If people even talk about a moral stance you make it your job to condescend to anyone who feels strongly about anything.
You don't have a point, you don't have a foundation, all you have is an inexplicable desire to try and tear down anyone who wants to take any stand at all, even a personal one, as soon as they start talking about it to other people.
Boycotts may be completely toothless in the year of our lord but if you buy/stream/tweet about Hogwarts Legacy you 100% deserve the judgement you receive from people for it.

what if the game is really good tho
Maybe it will be the Thriller of this generation of vidya and we just have to begrudgingly acknowledge it
what if Harry Potter taught you how to not be a wizard racist tho
It sound like youre labeling every HP fan as a transphobic.
I wholeheartedly agree. I always knew AG was a transphobic.
It's the big AAA Harry Potter RPG coming out
I'm probably gonna get it at some point either on sale or from a shady website, or something. Idk haven't decided yet. JK still sucks though.
Ahhh ok. I tuned out the HP games forever ago since they love to pump them out like crazy, so haven't paid attention.
My point stands.
Reality is, a lot of writers are shitstains. Many of which are still alive today and making money off their IPs.
Some people separate the creator from their work. That doesn't make them transphobes or anything. It's quite true that if you were to boycott every last bad company/person, you'd probably be naked stuck in your room.
Now granted, people usually pick a couple things to stand up to. Personally, I refuse to eat at Chick-Fil-A and I avoid Walmart. But it's all hypocritical shit. I still buy stuff off of Amazon, and I admit they are not any better and are probably worse than Walmart. Everyone does that shit.
I think it's good to boycott when you can, but like, don't judge others who don't. I don't bemoan those who go to Walmart. They have their own reasons. And perhaps, they have their own boycotts that I probably agree with doing. I do commend those trying to organize boycotts, more power to them if they work. But again, don't be hella judgy on people who don't.
