Las Vegas Raiders looking into why players were without masks at charity event

Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis said Tuesday that the team is looking into why several players were not wearing masks while attending a charity event held by teammate Darren Waller that broke Nevada rules for the coronavirus pandemic and might have violated NFL regulations.

The Darren Waller Foundation held a fundraising event Monday at the DragonRidge Country Club in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson. Players were seen on video without masks at the indoor event while talking and mingling with guests, who also weren't wearing masks.

"Guys have to be more stringent in fighting the virus," Davis told ESPN. "It's still our toughest opponent."

Among the players in attendance were quarterbacks Derek Carr and Nathan Peterman, tight ends Jason Witten, Foster Moreau and Derek Carrier, receivers Zay Jones and Hunter Renfrow, and cornerback Nevin Lawson, as well as tight end Waller. In one photo that was posted to the Darren Waller Foundation Instagram page and later deleted, an unmasked Carr posed with another maskless guest who had won his jersey in an auction.

I dunno how Nevada laws work but in my city, if it's a private event with a determined guest list with contact information for everyone that attends, masks aren't required for guests in the ballroom of the event if the ballroom doors are closed. It's recommended, but there's no fines if you don't. Public spaces like lobbies, hallways, washrooms, etc you need to wear your mask though.

I doubt the banquet hall broke State rona booking violations 'cause for businesses there's usually a massive massive fine to the banquet hall for breaking those kind of rules. Up here it's 500k. A 2k fine sounds more like minor a fine for a few people getting caught without a mask in a hallway or something. If the banquet hall itself was completely breaking laws simply by hosting the event they'd be straight up shutdown.

The banquet hall was already fined, but it was a pittance. Nevada has been fairly strict on it. Astylla and I were in Reno for her birthday and halfway through the trip, all bars got shut down again. Tried going to a lounge and they wouldn't even serve us with masks off. We were told we could only lower our masks to take a sip then had to be pulled back up.

The sad reality to it, is that if fatherhood is one of the things he wants most, he's screwed. Being a parent is the greatest thing that I've ever experienced. I've had stints for 3‐4 months at a time where I worked 70hrs/week on average and barely had any time with my daughter. That shit still haunts me and I'll never put myself in that position again, because time with her is so much more important than extra cash. I can say that honestly.

Now for an NFL player of his caliber, with his accomplishments, and his fame, time with his kid is going to be rare.

NFL issues strong warning to coaches who won't wear masks on sideline

The NFL has issued another strong warning to coaches who won't wear masks on the sideline during games, threatening suspensions and forfeiture of draft picks as punishment for failing to comply with COVID-19 game-day protocols, according to a league memo obtained Wednesday by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The strongly worded memo, sent to coaches, general managers and team executives by NFL executive vice president Troy Vincent, includes a passage in which the NFL says it will "address lack of compliance with accountability measures that may include ... suspensions and/or forfeiture of draft picks."

It marks the second time this month that the NFL has warned coaches to comply with coronavirus-related protocols by wearing a mask on the sideline.

ESPN is fucking weird. Something similar happened to me with Mike Evans whatever year it was their week one game got postponed due to a hurricane. It wasn’t until the week officially started that I was finally able to bench him despite posting a zero.
