So it looks like the big hangup on the Canadian division is the BC government saying no to the Canucks travelling in and out of Van, regardless of if it's staying purely in Canada.
Move the Canucks to Quebec City for the year, if QC will approve on short notice. Its unlikely they dont as that is a-easy revenue b-an opportunity for the city to show it wants a hockey team. I mean, if the alternative is moving all 7 Canadian teams south of the border, then the argument of "well they will be away from their families" goes out the window. It would likely require some schedule restructuring as "western swings" are no longer WPG > CGY / EDM > VAN, but its not like scheduling the arenas will have any competition.
The Canadian ownership could also be fighting for moving to arena's in the US that will allow fans in the crowd if it means increased revenue as that for sure ain't happening in Canada. The Raptors are moving to Orlando for the NBA season and despite it being a stupid as fuck idea, because they're in Florida and Florida is gonna Florida, they're allowing fans in the crowd for their games at 'home'.
That wouldn't surprise me at all
That's not the only reason the raptors moved to Florida. They had to find any location in the east in the US as canada isn't allowing movement between nations. Most of the southern states already are allowing limited fans anyways. Florida just happens to be a bit of a cesspool for it due to the governor going full dictator in hiding data and having police raid scientists that were leaking data to the public.

ITS HAPPENING
EVERYTHING IS HAPPENING
East division barely has to travel
VAN, MIN, and STL with the worst travel. Hell, the entire North has crap travel.
And I'm shocked they don't switch Lumbus or Chicago for Washington. But TV ratings probably say otherwise.
which lol @ TB and FL being "Central." It's a fucking mess.
Top 4 teams and each make the playoffs.
Kings still wont make it but the 4th spot in the west looks wide open imo.
I don't get why you would move WSH from the East, they are closer to all of those teams then anyone else and nowhere near FL or TX. Just because we are slightly closer to CAR people like to put us in the SE but DC is nowhere near those South teams.
I get that IL,FL,TX in one division sucks but swapping WSH in for one of the Central teams only makes it worse for everyone. PIT and BUF are closer to CBJ/DET/CHI if you want to swap someone in, swap them and CAR to extend travel slightly for the East but DET/CBJ/CHI are all pretty close. STL or MIN should have been added to the Central over DAL as well.
There is no way to make travel fair for everyone when you have 8 teams within a 7hr drive of each other though.
Exiting news. But the Canadian division still has some roadblocks.

Didn't they learn from Buffalo getting him, that unless he's being carried by Sid in Pitt he's not really great?
Meanwhile Hoffman still sitting out there waiting for that 7 year $5789345735783745 deal that nobody is gonna give him lol
