Yes, I have. I lived in Oklahoma for 2 years. They're oblivious to how GOP policies hurt them and trying to explain it to them doesn't work. They're not bad people (most of them at least) but they are deeply trenched into the tribalism. I don't think the Dems need to go further left or right. The Dems need message discipline. We need to change the way we talk about our policies because the fix is in mate, I think the way we talk about policies isn't compelling.

Edit: It would also help to have more compelling candidates run for office because I hate to admit it at this point but lots of voters prefer a guy they can have a beer with than a sane, competent leader.

I have, as I also live in a very red part of NY (Declared Independent voter). It's almost always based on the fact that Trump is a "Good businessman, not a politician" BS line. Lets say he is -- he doesn't even benefit small time businesses at all. Meanwhile, people like Jeff Bezos comes up another 1 trillion off of his policies and the swamp gets murkier. I'm all about having some uplifting policies, but Trump doesn't even give a fuck about his own base, lol. I've come to terms that there are two types of voters. Those who will vote Red regardless just because, and people who adore Trump. Trump cares about neither, lol.

Then we can always double back and just question how all of his constituents just casually ignore the fact that he's a racist, sexist, trans-hating, bigot. That's even worse than being the man tbh. Even more so if they themselves aren't biased like that.
