From my experience in retail both in management and not, I can tell you that the overwhelming majority of cashiers over the age of 20 fall in to one of two categories, too lazy or too stupid for anything else.

If the skill is coding, I wouldn't put it so bluntly but most likely yes. I'm all for trades that can't be outsourced that is more realistic for miners at least.

Certain kind of autist? Dude...it's 2020. Learning code is not that fucking hard and does not require autism to any degree. You're not writing in Fotran or COBOL.

It's also not elitist...the fuck are you talking about. Why would they not be able to learn code? Are you saying they are too stupid to learn basic coding? That sounds pretty fucking elitist to me. Yes, a 55yr old coal worker is probably not gonna be jumping on board to learn coding, but a 25-33yr old coal worker could easily grasp the concepts and be educated in coding.

I was 22 when I started to learn to code, working a retail job while going to community college. Now I’m doing game development for a pretty well known company in the U.S. It’s not impossible, but certainly not for everyone.
