    Oh, here we go.

One idea being tossed around the campaign is whether it can run out the clock enough to put forward a Republican slate of electors in key states where President-elect Joe Biden won the popular vote. State laws vary on whether they can appoint electors that don't reflect the will of the people. One of the sources cautioned it was unclear how seriously this idea is being considered.

lol you don't just say "Well go learn to code bitch"...you actually show them resources and help them along. Fund the government programs to do that.
they tried it in WV, it went well

i dont think blue collar workers are stupid, nor retail workers (well some of them definitely are), but most of them are not suited for coding jobs

That sounds pretty fucking elitist to me. Yes, a 55yr old coal worker is probably not gonna be jumping on board to learn coding, but a 25-33yr old coal worker could easily grasp the concepts and be educated in coding.
As someone who codes for a living and has had to train dozens of people, I'd say roughly half of them couldn't even grasp the most basic coding concepts, and all had Computer Science degrees of some sort. Expecting your average retail/blue collar worker to pick it up enough to be functional, much less excel, is a tall order. It's not nearly as easy as you claim it is.

Depends what age range we're talking about. Again if we're talking 45+ or 50+ then yeah it's too late but there are other things you can push those people to, a lot of it being renewable energy construction or something to take advantage of the skills they have developed over all their years. If we're talking 22-40ish range then it's gonna depend on person but it's gonna be a lot easier. These are people who grew up around technology, super high chance they all have cell phones and have a computer of some sort they know how to use.

I grew up in hillbilly country upstate NY and know a lot of the people I grew up with who work manual labor jobs and could grasp coding or doing system administration/help desk tasks. Anecdotal obviously but I doubt the Adirondacks/Catskill's of NY differ that much in types of people as rural PA/MO or w/e.

Biggest thing is funding programs to get these people into new career paths and obviously there's a shit ton of other stuff that needs to be accomplished too. It's not a simple "take a course in C++ and now you're gtg"

If I had to bet if there were one person who meets that criteria (mailed or early voted then died to covid), I would bet on yes.

Enough to turn the election around? Lol no

    To add to this;
I occasionally train people to work in a warehouse and there’s a lot of people who can’t even grasp how to properly stack boxes on a pallet. Don’t overestimate the general populous.

This is largely true and why Yang hammers on about the stats showing that job re-training just is not the answer for these sort of people, which brings us back to the need for a UBI.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Here’s what I see has happened:

The bootstrap-era people tried to put down fast food workers who wanted better wages telling them to suck it up and learn a trade to get a higher paying job.

The rest responded in snark for bootstrap-era people to suck it up and get a better paying job when coal miners et al jobs are shrinking. Fair is fair, right? But now:

They have now internalized said snark to the point that they now believe it making them just as shitty as the bootstraps people.

There are two realities to face: 1. A lot of jobs are disappearing due to changing technology. 2. A lot of people struggle to retrain in a new field whether it’s due to location, age, availability, or learning capabilities.

Now we can’t stop 1 from happening, but maybe we can rise above and not stoop to boomer talk especially when not even everyone in this situation is a bootstraps boomer to begin with.

With Yang’s actions over Georgia, I am quickly becoming a yang gang fan. I think him running for pres while “technically “ wasn’t the right time, it was perfect for getting his name out there. I could see him running again and doing much better in the future. I love politicians who walk the walk.

tbf the only reasons to pay americans to code anything at this point are:
    1) national security
    2) indian and chinese work cultures are aggressively hierarchical and not merit based in any capacity, which ultimately means that they make unreliable products
    3) the mythology of silicon valley
    4) if your IP goes to china, it is now chinese IP (but if they really cared, they would just steal it anyway)

coding is already commodity and it's only seen as different than being an auto mechanic for historical/social reasons

So much for day's "Don't treat them like ignorant hicks if you want their vote" egalitarianism.

People just take to coding or don't. It's almost a mindset with how you have to think, otherwise, the skill gap is going to be too much for them to get a real job here doing it. I say this while doing interviews for a new programmer and seeing all these kids with BS degree's come in with all A's. Then you toss them a practical test and watch them die inside.

On another note, there is a super Trump support in my neighborhood. The dude has been flying the American flag >> Trump flag for the last 4 years. The flags came down once Biden started winning a few days ago and I thought this guy would conceding and bring his flags down. NOPE. The dude took down the American flag, and put the Trump flag at the top of his flag pole, followed by an NRA flag. Almost like it had nothing to do with being an American.

I voted for Biden this election but if Yang ran in 2024 I would vote for him easily...be it either as POTUS or VP.
