I’ve already said what I think will happen. There’s 0 consequences for team Red if they support the President-reject’s wargarble

Even before the election I had read reports that he would be. Doubt it's related.

Maybe McConnell thinks he can use the Trump shit to affect turnout in the Georgia runoff elections? That's my current theory.

Supporting treason... is also treason. They have pretty big real consequences going beyond anything other than bitching on tv.

Starting to get pretty concerned myself. If it was just Trump saying these things, that’s one thing. But having those around him and some senators also peddling this crap with no end in sight; it’s just going to whip people into an absolute frenzy.

Do you think that the contingency planning started the day Trump realized he lost? Also, the rumors were that he had a resignation letter prepared.

It is possible this is all a play for Georgia, which will probably work, but this is some serious banana republic fire we are playing with here

Considering how much of the military vote seems to be breaking for Biden over Trump how would they possibly try a coup? When it really gets down to it don't you need military support to perform a coup? That seems like a pretty big road block to me. I doubt the proud boys and other like minded militia are going to be able to pull this off.

Depends why they swapped Esper out. Imagine if orders come down from both the president and SecDef to do something. Best case in that situation is that most commanders resign, which is a horrible outcome and isn't "all commanders resign." Instant civil war.

I don't see Esper being related at all. More are coming I'm sure

    Yeah it's not just Esper.

He also fired Lisa Gordon-Hagerty, who oversees the nuclear stockpile.

    And Bonnie Glick, from USAID.

And Neil Chatterjee, chairman of FERC.

What are the odds Trump is gonna try to sell a nuke to cover his debts.

Bonnie was fired so they could demote the acting whose term limit was expiring to her job. Now that he is in her job, he can remain the highest ranking at the agency.

there is 0% chance the military would back a coup. the enlisted men prefer Biden and the senior officer corps largely despises him. our military is aggressively apolitical in general and it would take a tremendously popular and charismatic leader to get them to betray their oaths to the Republic, sure as shit isn't gonna be for Donald. they're far more likely to move against him if he tries something than support it.

Is failing to defy orders from the commander in chief a betrayal?

Not if it's unlawful, which would be a pretty easy case to make.

Now that things have slowed down, thinking over it all, I'm surprised republicans didn't try to submit massive amounts of fraudulent votes for dems to try and build more distrust in the system. Not sure if they did and it got weeded out, or if they're too incompetent (or smart?) to even try.

If Republicans are incompetent or dumb, what does that say about the group that is struggling to wrest control of the country from a group of people who are either incompetent or dumb?
