Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on Tuesday signed into law a bill that creates strict new voting rules in the state, ending a months-long effort by Democrats to stall the legislation by denying Republicans a quorum in the House.


But the law already faces at least five challenges in state and federal courts, with dozens of organizations and individuals suing Texas GOP leaders and local elections officials. Abbott said he did not think the legal challenges would derail the legislation.

“I feel extremely confident that when this law makes it through the litigation phase, it will be upheld in a court of law,” Abbott told reporters in Tyler, Tex., where he signed the bill. “No one who is eligible to vote will be denied the opportunity to vote. It does, however, make it harder for cheaters to cast an illegal ballot.”

With this one, they are allowing "Poll watchers" to do anything they want at polling places. It even hurts the official polling people's ability to do anything to poll watchers if they are overstepping. They are betting on the crazy fucks going to certain polling places and trying to do voter intimidation. And it will work.

It was on Dec. 14, 2020, when Wisconsin electors met in the state capitol for an official ceremony in which the state formally assigned its electors for the electoral college. There wasn't anything unusual about this: On the same day, every state did this, with Trump electors being assigned in states won by the GOP ticket, and Biden electors being assigned in states won by the Democratic ticket.

But as we discussed a couple of weeks ago, the process in the Badger State became a little messier: While the actual electors were being assigned inside the state capitol in Madison, a group of Wisconsin Republicans quietly held a separate, fake ceremony — in the same capitol, at the same time — to cast electoral votes for Trump, despite his defeat in the state.

They then proceeded to forge the official paperwork and sent it to, among others, the U.S. Senate and the U.S. Archivist.

As Trump's team pushed its discredited voter fraud narrative, the National Archives received forged certificates of ascertainment declaring him and then-Vice President Mike Pence the winners of both Michigan and Arizona and their electors after the 2020 election. Public records requests show the secretaries of state for those states sent those certificates to the Jan. 6 panel, along with correspondence between the National Archives and state officials about the documents.

Mark Meadows, per a suggestion from an unnamed Congressperson, was the person leading the charge in the effort.

Meadows sent emails and texts about sending "alternate electors" to Congress in November 2020, allegedly saying "I love it" about the idea to an unidentified member of Congress.

"Mr. Meadows received text messages and emails regarding apparent efforts to encourage Republican legislators in certain States to send alternate slates of electors to Congress, a plan which one Member of Congress acknowledged was 'highly controversial' and to which Mr. Meadows responded, 'I love it,'" the committee report said.

"Mr. Meadows responded to a similar message by saying '[w]e are' and another such message by saying 'Yes. Have a team on it,'" it said.

The committee also said in its report that Meadows introduced former President Donald Trump to then-Department of Justice official Jeffrey Clark as part of efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

"Mr. Clark went on to recommend to Mr. Trump that he be installed as Acting Attorney General and that DOJ should send a letter to State officials urging them to take certain actions that could affect the outcome of the November 2020 election by, among other things, appointing alternate slates of electors to cast electoral votes for Mr. Trump rather than now-President Biden," the report said.

On Tuesday, during a floor session, Wisconsin Assembly leaders rejected a proposal from Rep. Timothy Ramthun, a Republican, to reclaim Wisconsin’s 10 electoral votes for President Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

In response, The Gateway Pundit, frequent purveyor of misinformation, published an article with the following headline: “Wisconsin Assembly Votes to Advance Rep. Ramthun’s Resolution to Reclaim Wisconsin’s Electors For President and Vice President That Were Certified Under Fraudulent Purposes.”

Wisconsin Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke, who is also Republican, described Ramthun’s resolution to recall Wisconsin presidential electors as both “illegal” and “unconstitutional.” He added that: “As chair of the Rules Committee, there is ZERO chance I will advance this illegal resolution.”

Steineke then clarified what took place at Tuesday’s floor session, saying that “Disinformation spreads quickly.” He noted that “Ramthun introduced a resolution with zero support (no cosponsors),” and that because it was a “was a privileged resolution, it has to be referred to committee. It was referred to Rules. There was no vote on it.”
