And the Kickstarter is just short of $28.5M. And because so many hardcovers are being ordered, the money saved from the larger bulk order will go into a two-tone print. The size of the hardcovers will have a binding height equal to that of the leatherbound books. I'll guess Mistborn got optioned for a pilot based upon the State of the Sanderson blurb.

I’m still developing (in a hands on way) a Mistborn feature film. I’ve written a treatment, some actual scenes, etc. I can’t tell you much about it other than that I feel very good about the motion on this for the first time ever, as I have some really excellent partners on the project.

Could be wrong. Doubt they would do the graphic novel for a book #5 for next year.

Also of note, the Kickstarter has more financial backing that both Pebble watches combined. So that's something.

That's crazy! I heard there were salty authors on booktwitter, so im glad he did that video where they backed a bunch of literature kickstarters.

But yeah, I'd imagine given the fancy animations itll be news for a pilot/movie.

Oh have you guys been reading the preview chapters? The implications of #4 are making me go feral.

I decided just to do the Ebooks. I don’t have the room for 4 other big hardcover books and I try to only keep the physical books I really love, nowadays. $50 (if you include shipping) for each book, when it could just be a “yeah, it was an alright book,” is a bit too steep for me atm. Of course, I’ll regret it greatly if it turns out I really love all of them. But hey, with how many backers there are, it might not be too difficult to find resale copies eventually.

Got rid of most of my books after moving so much from apartment to apartment. Now that I have a house, I don’t have the wall space for all the shelves. I’ve got 3 7ft-tallish bookshelves and just one now hold my and my wife’s books (she’s got more than me now) and a bunch of clutter I haven’t put away properly. The other two are my movie collection and it probably won’t be too long until that spills into my 3rd bookcase.
I’ve yet to figure out the etiquette on if I should have my own book(s in the near future) on my shelf or tucked away in a box somewhere.



I have to reorganize every time a new Stormlight Archive book comes out.

A little bit of both. Have showpieces for wall decor. Don't try and overcrowd a shelf to show everything off. Box books up that you don't care as much about or the really beat up paperbacks.

Mistborn would work, but I am adamant that there’s no way in hell they could have a budget necessary for Stormlight. The spren alone would be insane. Would really want an animated Stormlight over anything else. But ya, Mistborn is totally doable.

tl;dr. New publishing date is somewhere in Q3/Q4 2024. Lots of revisions this year (not a surprise.) Running Dragonsteel Entertainment takes from writing time. Still no title for the novel. Stormlight 5 will be the longest novel of the 5 books. Mistborn Era 3 and possibly Elantris sequels after Stormlight 5. Wants a 3-year gap between each of the remaining 5 Stormlight books. Continues to resist cutting up Stormlight into more profitable smaller novels.
