This one is for you Nynja, from today's AB covid press conference where they pretty much announced a big shut-down because of how terrible they've been handling Covid

After months of having the worst response in Canada and being fucking terrible in general, here's a thread about all the new restrictions in place in AB as of today.

Its about time AB puts that shit on lockdown. Ottawa got put on lockdown over 100 cases a day, Calgary was doing 400+ and they were all "this is fine, we'll just reduce, not restrict"
There were pictures of Chinook Mall after black friday...the mall was PACKED. No fines were issued for breaching capacity or distancing...meanwhile people were told they cant have guests over. Like cmon.
They have weekly no mask rallies in AB and aren't putting a stop to them at all. And half of this press conference today was Kenney and his government not only shirking any responsibility for the state AB is currently in, but even praising themselves for what they've done so far. Just completely asinine
Eyyy maybe the push towards a balanced budget leads to cuts with intangible short-term impacts like disinvestment in public education and environmental deregulation that are ultimately way more costly than carrying that much extra debt.
I would pay a lot to live in a functioning democracy where my neighbors aren't idiots, but down here in the south it's too late for us. You can still be saved, Canada! Fight on!
Ah, trash can punch. Granny's joy-juice. And my personal favorite, nuclear koolaid. Good times.
This is not quite correct but it's wild that it's close to true

At least one of the 3 days of the battle of Gettysburg should chart here (unless you don't consider confederate dead) and the 1918 pandemic killed ~675k over 2 years so it definitely had a bunch of days that would chart here, especially in October of 1918.
Also today would chart #4
But hey, atleast the economy is doing ok
It's pretty bad scrolling thru FB and seeing a barrage of shit like
You wanted us to lockdown in March. We did, it got worse.
You made masks mandatory, it got worse.
Clearly isolating and masks aren't working.
Wake up *sheep emoji spam*
This is the government making you rely fully on CERB and other handouts
It's only killing the old and vulnerable.
Get back out and back to work - this is all a lie
Doesn't cancer consistently kill close to 2,000/day for a while now? Heart failure/stroke should also be reaching up to 3000/day.
COVID-19 is a true emergency and without common sense on mask/distance we'd see much higher numbers but that deadliest ranking list is a bit misleading.

Given that kids have a much lighter time with this than adults, I am not sure whether the staff skew is due to an actual effect or just reporter bias. Regardless, it seems that children have a greater chance of contracting symptomatic COVID from their schools' staff than giving it to them.
Don't know the dude or any of his deal, and not trying to defend him, but:
He's walking in holding the papers on one hand, the other holding nothing. He then uses that other hand to start "sanitizing".
I've had multiple times where I grab hand sanitizer on one hand, but the other hand is busy holding something (like take out), that I end up running for a bit with sanitizer sitting in the one hand until I can set it down to properly rub. To me, that looks like what happened here.
Now, doesn't mean it is, and he could be faking it, so w/e.
I know this aint you, but everything here is a fucking lie.
1-AB was never in any kind of lockdown, not even close. If those idiots think having everything open at 25-50% capacity is a lockdown, theyre in for a rude awakening. Even the current "lockdown" isnt a lockdown since the malls are still fucking open.
2-Go about 1/5 down the page, it didnt "get worse". It was actually working very well for about 6 months.
3-They are when people actually adhere to it, not when the govt says to do it and idiots like you tell people to "get out and back to work, this is all a lie".
4-If you keep this up, you're gonna be taking a long dirt nap.
5-Why the fuck would the govt want that?!?
6-I'd be willing to bet the dude writing this has his own comorbidities that will show up on his death certificate.
My mom (i know, sad) sent me some 25 minute video that "keeps getting banned from facebook" with a bunch of doctors saying the vaccine is fake and covid isnt serious. The first fucking doctor in the video has gone on record saying viruses dont exist, the common cold isnt real, AIDS isnt real, chicken pox isnt real...like get the fuck out of here dude.
feasible remote work is the dream job these days
i mean i kinda knew right away even in March we'd work like normal though this whole outbreak and that 18+ months ought to be a decent estimate but god damn i could use a break right now. if i have to work again this weekend it's murder-suicide time
