I made that joke to the pharm d that injected me. But no, the actual shot was nothing more than a light pinch. It was 12+ hours later and I couldn't raise my arm at the shoulder without pretty significant pain. It's getting better, but man, it hurt like hell.

My wife, who also received it, has had GI issues today. Gonna be fucking rich if she caught the Rona during vaccine week after avoiding this shit for almost year.

Was just reading how the current vaccine rollouts are like 1m per week when we need to be 3.5m a day to hit a specific timeline, too. We're pretty much fucked, especially if a more contagious strain takes root.

Naw, we only needed 3.5m/day to hit the Trump administration's arbitrary rollout timeline of 20mil in 2020 (wonder how they picked it). If you assume we have to distribute 400mil doses in 6mo to avoid distribution being the bottleneck, that is a hair over 2mil/day.

Stuff is happening as fast as it can given the competence of the people in charge. The federal people in charge are going to change in less than a month, but a lot of the stupid seems to be living at the state level.

I'll attribute it to logistics & distribution bottlenecks with the Pfizer vaccine. It was going to be slow and only administered at centralized sites to ensure vaccine integrity. The ramp up for Moderna distribution is catching up allowing for states to vaccinate more at facilities that don't have -80°C cold storage and creating mobile vaccination teams that can administer to skilled nursing homes and outside hospital settings.

Also there may be worries about allotments for the 2nd dose so some vaccine distributors are erring on caution (maybe too much) to ensure availability of the booster in 3 weeks.
