I've already informed my boss that either teleworking needs to be greatly expanded when things go back to "normal" or I need to be moved to an office closer to my home. I won't be driving 2+hours a day to Detroit anymore.

We're looking at September at the earliest but most bay area companies have already said wfh for all of 2021

I love it for slow days obv but when it's busy it's muuuuuuch easier to do my job when I can meet with people in person

I wouldn't be surprised if that happens. My state's plan is to start vaccinating people that aren't first responders/doctors/front-line essentials in May give or take a month. And I'm sure there will be a hell of a line.

Unless we get another vaccination in the approved and it manages to ramp up the progress.

Yeah luckily we weren't required to come in every day even before this. But now even that once or twice a week is gonna seem like a lot. I'd be down with once a month lol

Working from home is awesome because I don't have to get up super early to get ready and drive and shit. The monotony of working from home and not having that variety in work environment is tough. Seeing your messy house and thinking about chores and shit during the work day is sucky. I honestly don't know which I would prefer. I think as the pandemic gets better I will be able to do more in person calls for my customers and that will help break up the monotony.

When I started wfh my wife wasn't back to work yet and working from home with my wife and two kids making noise and our third oldest doing homeschooling was really tough. Now my wife went back to work and our oldest is back to school and the two littles are with my mom next door so I have a quiet work environment and that makes easier.

Edit: it really sucks for some reason the county I live in is getting really small vaccine amounts like 3200 doses per week on average and at this rate I won't be eligible for vaccination until early next year.

My boss said on a call today that he's considering staying where he is after the pandemic is, and since my job is to do a lot of his work that would preclude me having to ever step in the office again unless he came down for some reason.

CDC says schools can re-open, but there is no mandate.

The new guidance includes many of the same measures previously backed by the CDC, but it suggests them more forcefully. It emphasizes that all of the recommendations must be implemented strictly and consistently to keep school safe. It also provides more detailed suggestions about what type of schooling should be offered given different levels of virus transmission, with differing advice for elementary, middle and high schools.

Recommended measures include hand washing, disinfection of school facilities, diagnostic testing and contact tracing to find new infections and separate infected people from others in a school. It’s also more emphatic than past guidance on the need to wear masks in school.

“We know that most clusters in the school setting have occurred when there are breaches in mask wearing,” Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the CDC’s director, said in a call with reporters.

Although the guidance says vaccinating teachers should not be seen as a condition to reopen, Walensky said it can provide “an additional layer of protection.”

I expect my job is going to not force anyone back in the office full time. If I had to guess, probably twice a week is going to be the low end of mandatory. More if you suck. I'd be fine with that really. My job gets a lot of positive benefit out of weekly meetings and I would rather have them in person than not.

But this is coming from someone with a <20 minute commute and mostly great coworkers. Not the norm lol

It's approaching a year since I last wore one of my work polos. I am terrified of putting one on.

I sure hope so. The beer sampling event I go to is in June and I really don't want to risk missing it.

Cuomo's office has admitted to holding back the number of deaths attributed to nursing homes. The reasoning was not to give Trump political ammo.

DeRosa said the administration refrained from releasing the data due to former President Donald Trump’s efforts to turn the tragedy “into a giant political football,” according to the Post.

In a statement issued early Friday morning, she said when the administration received the inquiry from the Department of Justice, they had to "temporarily set aside the Legislature’s request to deal with the federal request first." She also said the governor's office "informed the houses of this at the time" and insisted Cuomo officials were "comprehensive and transparent in our responses to the DOJ."

Its wild to me hearing about schools just now considering reopening when I've been back at work basically full time since September.

What ammo? If anything wouldn't this make Trump look worse? Seems more like an excuse to make themselves look less shitty.
