Loving this show big time. Great setting, costumes/sets, and the political intrigue is well done.
best episode so far? maybe, maybe so.
Spoiler: show

Don't hate me but this show is boring af. I will continue watching to see if it gets any better.

my sweet nagakado, the feudal era japanese kendall roy
fire ep, more Roman coded tho
they are p radically diverging from the novel at this point, but it is a truth you have to dumb down intricate plotting for TV shows as it's so much harder to follow with only brief oral transmission explaining everything. not all bad neither Toranaga's brother is an upgrade, beautiful scene stealer. the opening with child Toranaga was heat too.
also, Blachthorne's "this appears to be occurring" made me laugh my ass off, top choice to have the lead (well one of em) be the comic relief.
yeah toranaga bro was great, and jarvis has been fantastic with his comedic deliveries. yabu's delivery of "depends on the woman" was also pretty great. also crazy to have buntaro almost being a sympathetic figure, still a gigantic dickhead but the boy is down bad (and for good reason)
lady ochiba having an actual story is interesting
yabu is probably my #1 character, he's such fun scum. self-serving schemer but a brave one who treats his own death with as much insignificance as the deaths of those around him. goofy ass vibe on top of it all.
and ya Buntaro is about as sympathetic as you can get re an abusive wife beater / shit dad / probable spousal rapist. he seems to love Mariko in his own way but can't reconcile it at all with how dishonorable she is in their culture because of her family. then her desiring death / Blackthorne more than himself stabs at his ego / heart in a way he can only barely live with. good char.
even in the original i always thought buntaro was the most realistic character in the whole show. no romanticizing samurai culture for that dude
