3 HOF players not too far after their primes, one young prodigy at PG, and a bunch of solid vets willing to take a paycut to ring chase. and the architect of the strong side defense which propagated throughout the league after.

he didn't really need to do too much except show up and not make supremely bad decisions. they were just better than everyone else.

The year the Celtics beat the Lakers, the Lakers starting center was injured. Also Pau came in a midseason trade and was learning to play with Kobe on the fly whereas the Celtics trio spent the entire summer in the gym together to mesh their games.

I think he's a good coach but the Celtics had a few advantages in that series.
