This seems like Quid pro quo for Republicans that do get called up to the stand. Will they purger themselves to continue to back Trump?

What the fuck do they possibly have to lose calling witnesses to the stand?
What a bitch move by Democrats.

I'm pissed off because they had all the leverage for the truth to come out but this appears to be their logic.
Republicans could call pointless witnesses for weeks or months that would only delay much needed legislation and addressing the pandemic as well as confirming people like Merrick Garland, who can decide to to investigate with the DOJ eventually anyway. After weeks/months of dragging out the Rs witnesses they would probably just vote to acquit anyway. Lastly the Democrats can still vote separately to bar Trump from holding public office again.

Yeah it seems like Republicans said "if you make us look even worse (for voting to acquit) we are going to break your precious government for the next few weeks with inane nonsense."
I can't really get too worked up about this, it's not like conviction was even a remote possibility.
Fucking cowards.
How the fuck are Dems gonna just to over when they hold all the power holy shit so heated over this

well I’d like to see ol donny wrigg- ah shit nvm
How are they gonna say they support the Capitol Police when they won't even call witnesses for the trial vs the guy who incited the attack. Holyyyy shittttt fucking cowards get Schumer out of there.

The Democrats are nothing but a bunch of good idea fairies who have no fucking balls to act on any of it.
How can the senate vote to hold someone from ever holding office again without being convicted of said "insurrection"?
I think thats a much taller ask for something like that to stand and not backfire spectacularly than a straight up conviction.
The D's as a whole are just better off leaving Trump alone and figuring out their own constituent issues for 2022 before it becomes what the R's are now, but cocaine is a hell of a drug.
It's frustrating but why do you disagree with the logic above? Is a few months of legislative gridlock worth it for some kind of moral victory when he's only going to be acquitted anyway?

Hey now, you guys don't get it. Mitch and Kevin told them they wouldn't be invited to the after session mixers anymore. They had absolutely no choice but to acquiesce.
They were so close to demonstrating once and for all that Orange Man Bad and they let it slip through their fingers!
