The bombing Syria thing is so dumb... did we want Biden not to respond to our troops being attacked?
Only if you ignore all the details.
How does that 3600/year come in? Monthly deposits?
Also it's only for 1 year in this bill. Supposedly they want to make it permanent in future legislation (they can do a second reconciliation bill as soon as they finish this one)
Prob paying $1000 to the IRS this year. Bleh.
Anyone file their own taxes and are trying to file as a work from home?
Both hubby and I have been at home since March of last year, and I heard we can use that as expenses, but it's something new for me to file and I don't want to fuck it up.
Don't you have to forgo the standard deduction if you start deducting work related expenses. If you were not planning on taking it then go for it, but might be better to take standard if you aren't expensing that much.
She has a mortgage + property tax. She's itemizing. But thanks to the Trump Tax cut, no you cannot write off WFH expenses unless you're self-employed.
Even with a mortgage + property tax, most people should not itemize these days. I don't even come close to having it be a better option.
Itemizing needs to total over 12400, individually I think? Pretty hard to beat the standard deduction.
My dad barely beats the standard deduction with a mortgage interest + home equity loan interest + property tax and misc deductions like medical expenses. Then again it's California so property values are naturally high.
I came about a thousand short, if they hadn't doubled it a few years back I would be itemizing these days. If you don't own your home though it's almost a guarantee you won't be anywhere close.
So far I am in the standard, but haven’t finished inputting the house sale/ purchase which could tip me over this year. I usually pretend to itemize until literally everything is in the see which is better.
I made the most money I've ever made this year and got back the highest refund I've ever gotten. Haven't touched my claimed deductions in years. But $8,900 return. Claimed two kids. Pretty damn good.
