Why not both? It's pure cost benefit analysis. Trump committed impeachable offenses, and did so two years ago too. But he was valuable then as a rubber stamp for the GOP agenda. Once he's out of office, he's not valuable.

Strategically this seems like the smartest thing for Mitch to do at this point and I am surprised he didn't do it earlier and let Pence become president. This will help him repair the GOP to a certain extent and bring in the staunch anti-Trump centrist voters back towards the GOP.

My Republican House rep is also strongly suggesting he will vote for impeachment and i hope he does. Impeachment #2 is happening it's just a question of whether or not Republicans will regain some of their conscience to do so and it will only reflect badly on them if they don't.
