This thread is doing the math regarding likelihood of Senate Republicans convicting. He lists Rubio in the maybe list but I don't see that, Rubio's had the Kool-Aid and he's fucking crazy now.
Also worth noting that 2/3rds of Republicans required to convict is the amount that *are present* meaning that if some Republicans simply don't show up that would change the math. Would any of them not show up to the conviction vote? A Republican not showing up would probably be just read as a vote to convict by Trump and his cult.
Wow the House is getting the full high school treatment, an active shooter on campus followed by the institution of metal detectors.
Strange for this to come out 6 days later.
That’s something that could be easily verified, they have plenty of surveillance footage. Go check the tapes and see if she is full of shit or not.

This thread about Ali Alexander's ties to congress members planning the riot.
Consider the people quoted in Georgia who said they weren't voting because they didn't trust the system anymore. I know it's not the best congruence, but they could use the same logic.
They could say they won't be forced to vote against their president, and that they're proud they didn't.
Nevermind what that does to Trump.

Klete Keller wore his Team USA Olympic jacket which made him easy to identify by teammates.
Rep. Bradley Schneider (D-Ill.) has become the third lawmaker to announce a positive test for the novel coronavirus after sheltering at close quarters with dozens of members of Congress during last week’s takeover of the Capitol.

The Justice Department and FBI have created a sedition and conspiracy task force to pursue charges against participants in the storming of the U.S. Capitol and are investigating any links to domestic or foreign instigators, officials said Tuesday.
The investigation, one of the largest ever undertaken by the department, includes counterterrorism and counterintelligence facets and has led to charges against more than 70 people and identified 170 suspects to date, acting U.S. attorney Michael R. Sherwin of D.C. said. Those arrest figures are expected to increase into the hundreds, if not “exponentially.”
If they're going to investigate domestic instigators, does that mean some of the republican representatives that are being called out should be sweating bullets right now?
That's shady as fuck
If their coup had been slightly more successful and they bothered to do anything more than track shit everywhere and snap pics for the insta, Trump might have endorsed it and tried to legitimize it.
I don't know what would have happened then. I could tell a story where the military intervenes and puts us in conservatorship like we're a 3rd world country. I could tell a story where the military is paralyzed by indecision and the White House / Capitol burn because DC voted 93% Democrat in the last election and if even 1% of those people turned out the insurrectionists would be outnumbered 2:1. I could tell a story where the military sides with Trump and squashes the ensuing riots.
I'm glad we don't need to find out because these buffoons committed felonies to get insta-famous, but it really was pretty close there and it really wasn't that many people.
I think the frustrating part is the Republican senators who insist it was nothing more than a peaceful protest where participants took souvenirs.
I'm confused about the 3 house reps catching COVID-19 - I thought all the members of congress were vaccinated weeks ago?
Oh looks like Jayapal and Schneider just got their first doses on the 4th, only 2 days before the insurrection. Watson-Coleman got hers first on Dec 29th, 8 days before.
I guess I figured most of them got it around the same time AOC did, on the 19th.
