I'm afraid of the fascists regaining more power in the midterms because it tends to favor the party out of power. However politics the last few years have been anything but normal. I do think this depends a lot on the economy and how well Biden handles getting us out of the COVID pandemic. If they get people their checks as promised, get COVID under control by spring/summer, and the economy is stable or doing well that improves chances Democrats can maintain or improve.

To the gerrymandering comment, I know that both Michigan and Ohio will be re-districted by civilian commissions. Hard to say how that will turn out but can't be worse than the severely gerrymandered biased districts we have now.

In terms of fighting against voter suppression I've been extremely impressed with Marc E. Elias of the Democracy Docket project and their efforts to defend suppression in court. I recommend anyone with some spare money to send some dollars their way.

It's clearly a bait to slow things down, sounds like the Dems have little interest in taking it. But needing 100% of the Dems in line with no "free-thinking iconoclasts" among them on substance or strategy is a challenge.

Republican stimulus counter, $1000 checks with reduced eligibilities of 50K single / 100K couple. lot of ground to cover between their $700 billion proposal and the Dems' $1.9 trillion proposal but something should be coming soon. checks of some kind almost a certainty as they're the central component of the Republican plan.
