People are still bitching because they are deciding that Biden said if we get Georgia, you'll get 2k, and then acting all told you so, he's not liberal when he explained the 600 was a down payment on that 2k.

Is there any word on when the $1400 is supposed to hit because 6+ weeks and yes that extra 600 that would come with 2000 would make a huge difference.
But also the fact of the matter is that America is supposed to be the most powerful, wealthiest country on earth and this bastion of liberty and democracy and their citizens are getting paid in dust and have been for the last few months is pretty asinine. While thousands die a day? Sounds like a third world country tbh
The 1.9T bill still has to be passed by the house. This shouldn't be an issue. I'd say a few weeks after that. It will be perfect timing if they can have it to us before taxes are due as we owe about 1450.
They aren't 'deciding' this out of thin air, he literally said multiple times AFTER the 600 that "$2k checks would go out immediately" and the print ads showed a literal check for $2000. Regardless of intent, using that phrasing and imagery only to claim "we didn't mean that literally" is something that A) Makes them look shitty and B) is easy ammo to be used against them, and is such a predictable issue that could have been easily avoided which makes them seem downright incompetent.
Preliminary reports are coming out that the phase out limits are going to be much lower this time around. Basically if you are single and make less than $50K ($100K for couples), you'll get the full $1400. Anything over that will be less as that is the proposed phase out threshold.
I never disagreed that it was shitty wording in how they did it. But the simple fact of the matter is that anyone with half a brain cell could realize 600 + 1400 = 2K and come to the same conclusion. That said, these fucking morons are the same reason we wound up with Trump as President in the first place.
I voted for democrats my entire life, but if we don't get 2k, then I might have to vote differently.
LOL yeah right.
More like they probably won't vote at all. I doubt it because they seem to have the attention span of a gnat, but hopefully with 4 years of Trump in office and everything that went down, they'll remember how shitty it was under a Republican and will continue to at least vote.
i mean i don't think that's anywhere nearly as bad as dems capitulating on the 50k income threshold. WHEN THEY DIDN'T NEED TO
like this is why i fucking can't stand this party. this is the kind of shit that loses you voters.
Meanwhile what is being overlooked is the extension on federal unemployment through September. But I guess everyone rather argue over 600+1400 vs 600+2000
Not everyone keeps up with every single development in politics though? I don't think it's unreasonable for someone who hears the President-Elect promise to deliver $2k to expect that he means it. I mean the messaging was literally aimed at getting out the vote in GA, meaning people who aren't as politically attentive/active as a more 'normal' election cycle, I don't think everyone who is complaining about it is being disingenuous. Obviously there are plenty of people just looking for excuses to hate on Dems (and they make it so easy) but assuming everyone is just feigning outrage is a vast oversimplification.

From January 5th.
Biden said $2k. It was never explained pre-vote to Georgians that it was 600+1400.At a campaign rally Monday in Atlanta, Biden cited the ramifications that choice could have on the possibility of $2,000 stimulus checks.
“If you send Jon [Ossoff] and the reverend [Raphael Warnock] to Washington, those $2,000 checks will go out the door, restoring hope and decency for so many people who are struggling right now,” Biden said.
“If you send senators [David] Perdue and [Kelly] Loeffler back to Washington, those checks will never get there,” he said.
Who cares when were also getting so much else with this bill. If you have kids jfc you are making BANK

Republicans, who are universally voting against even $1400 checks, are going to crucify them on this issue!
who do you think cares mf, people who need 600 dollars
Nothing is finalized btw, this vote is basically to confirm a "statement of intent" to initialize the reconciliation process.
The reconciliation process is...procedurally complex.
The minimum wage boost looks unlikely, but the monthly child allowance looks quite likely. I really hope they don't further means test the $1400, that would be stupid. More UI extensions and $400/week boost look likely too.
It should get us basically through the pandemic and if the child allowance sticks it will be at least the most consequential piece of legislation passed since the ACA if not moreso. Doing something this good with the slimmest of Senate margins is quite remarkable.
