Voters are so fickle that if they saw a butterfly on the way to the polls that it change their vote. The average voter is ignorant and shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt of "doing the right thing."
When it comes down to it people did and would vote for Trump again if they felt it help them. The more desperate they get the less of a fuck people give about how "wrong" their vote is. Like a trapped rat they will take any possible way out without regard to the consequences if they feel they need it. So, giving a shit about teachers or anything is a luxury of how stable the lives of the voter is.

Most people vote based around a single or few benefits to themselves and either don't care or don't know about the crazy shit their candidate might be doing behind the scenes...or even right out in the open. Fox is amazing at just sweeping all this shit aside and MSNBC,CNN and the rest don't do a great job at calling it out either because of "gotta play both sides!". So if they sit down after a long day, see a news bullet of "Yeah this guy wants to stop the government from stealing your livelihood" that's all they see and care about and they go vote for them, if that same candidate is also involved in a huge pedophile scandal and transfusing the blood of virgins to keep themselves young and healthy, the average voter isn't gonna see any of that shit enough to make them believe it or care.

They've been conditioned for decades to believe that Democrats want nothing more than to destroy our way of life at all costs, and the only thing stopping them are Republicans. No there isn't. There's only one driving motivation for these situations and it's best explained by "Do I hate this candidate more than I hate the idea of the other winning or less?".
