most team owners are advised by bob lamonte and caa on who the short list of head coaching candidates they should hire. those are essentially the only agencies for coaches and they just tell owners who they believe their top clients are that year and then the owners interview them and see who meshes with their personality and future vision of the team

the ford family is advised by former lions linebacker chris spielman (special assistant to the owner is his title), for whatever reason he wanted dan campbell. they probably crossed paths as players or something

Brees chose to leave after the team offered him a medioish contract built around health and performance incentives. he was dealing with a bum shoulder his last year here and front office didn't know if he'd come back strong. that said the FO was big on Rivers and eager to start him, but we woulda kept Brees no question if his shoulder hadn't been fucked.

He benefited from playing in a more passing heavy era which gets him higher in the counting stats, but still an 8x Pro Bowler and I feel like the 252 consecutive starts is a factor worth pointing out.

none of that truly matters. privs having more career passing yards than dan marino doesn't make privs a better qb, that's just a product of the nfl becoming a passing league. marino was one of the best qbs of his generation and it's not even debatable. are matt ryan and matt stafford going to the hall of fame, 'cause they are going to surpass marino on the all-time passing yard leader list as well.

here's the easiest way i always describe how the hof is supposed to work. were you ever considered the best, second best, or third best player at your position when you played the game.

privs was never considered the best, second best, or third best qb in a single season ever so he probably shouldn't be in the hof
