Disappointed, I suppose.

Miffed our only real lead on the titan power is Ymir chanced upon some random parasite (from space?) as outlined forever ago. Her somehow relinquishing the power or whatever because of how Mikasa "loved" Eren just feels like a cop out.

Think most of us would've enjoyed some kind of final battle from Eren proper.

The world basically going back to shitty tribal politics after was also dumb.

Would say most of us saw the whole Zero Requiem coming given the sudden DESTROY EVERYTHING from Eren, but given all the above, it just felt... pointless.

Didn't hate it. Sorta meh, Felt like not much got resolved. Definitely could have used another chapter, or even just a few more pages lol. But it was fine. And I enjoyed everything leading up to it.

The ending was fine but definitely went out with a bit of a wimper rather than a bang. It definitely needed another chapter to delve into the aftermath of everything and deal with the consequences, but hopefully the anime has a more in-depth ending but I was fine with what happened.

Historia's lack of presence could've been made up for with the ending, since her absence from the "plot" for the most part puts her in the best position to be a mediator. Definitely feels rushed.

I agree. I liked it. There was some questionable story elements with Ymir along the way, but overall it was satisfying for me. I know the anime will do it more justice with the music and such. Feels will be had.

I honestly wonder what people expected from the ending and the endings of most manga in general. I swear the past 10 mangas I've read that ended have all had the same, "wow, that was a pretty shit ending" feel from the general populace.

This one didn't feel particularly rushed to me and not really sure how much more indepth people wanted it to be without having to stretch it out for another 2 chapters to answer every what if and what now.

This one didn't feel particularly rushed to me and not really sure how much more indepth people wanted it to be without having to stretch it out for another 2 chapters to answer every what if and what now.

I'll throw in my two cents on this.

In general, the series started out as what could probably be considered an action survival horror genre. We're dumped into a scenario where the assumed remnants of humanity have holed themselves up within the last bastion of civilization because the world was overrun with titans. And not long into that, whatever peace they had acquired was ruined by the appearance of unique, seemingly intelligent titans. Fast forward and you've largely got a cast motivated with reclaiming what was lost, destroying the titan threat, and even seeing what existed of the world beyond the walls. There was mystery for the viewer to indulge in, particularly with the contents of the basement.

But then the threat shifted. Instead of titans being the enemy, it turns out they were on an island and there were plenty of humans out in the world. Only the islanders were shunned and those on the mainland were treated like shit for reasons we never had 100% explained and at best rationalized by people fearing what they don't understand. We went more from that survival action horror to a slower paced political drama where characters we thought we knew started behaving strangely while newer additions became irredeemably hated, but nonetheless survived through plot armor. The overall mystery of the titan origins was finally revealed, but that and the aftermath wound up leaving many wanting more information and detail that we never got. There's some trippiness about memories and potential future-seeing between titan holders, but at the same time, it never really clarified why past Kings seemed to be enslaved to Ymir while Eren was not, even if it just turned out to be as simple as him not being royal blood.

All this leads up to Eren's "plan" that was met with a mix of seeing it a mile away or finding irksomely out of character if it wasn't that. He goes through with it and the remaining characters fight, with some favorites lost along the way. The final showdown kicks off with Eren himself being largely absent, with the predecessor titans instead standing in for a battle of questionable quality. Armin is foisted as the last hope and eventually we're thrust into the titanspace where he just up and thanks Eren for committing genocide on their behalf? Then Eren's pretty much like, "Hope y'all learned your lesson!" and peaces out, just for humanity to immediately go back to tribal politics right on the fucking battlefield itself? Nah, that's unfulfilling as fuck. Then you've got the minefield of whether or not Mikasa actually loves Eren or if she's been enslaved by the Ackerman curse. In theory, the reasons are there with him saving her, growing up together, fighting against the titans, etc., but we're emphatically cut off from any semblance of post-Ymir taint to see if she'd actually feel the same way about him years later. It's the kinda thing that ruins a ship and further embitters the ending.

But yes, just "more" as a counter to feeling rushed would have helped a lot of this. I'm personally not so much concerned about the "4 years later" as I am the quality and conclusion of that final showdown. This wasn't even Power of Friendship level of resolution since the real party that needed to be befriended had no personality or presence to speak of. Ymir was the goddamn Necron of SNK/AOT, and they didn't even fight her.
