Same here. Before COVID i put too many miles on a car to lease. That said, I normally just buy a car outright for 25-35k and run that fucker into the ground for 10+ years until i look for another one. Car's don't add anything worth it to me to upgrade more than that. Until these fuckers drive themselves i'm happy with my current car and no car payment.

leasing is a great option for some people, especially if it's easy staying under the mileage limits and you don't mind or even like switching cars

if you want no monthly payment and don't mind driving used, basic sedans to 200k+ miles, you're probably not a person for regular leasing

we're doing the latter right now but i'm not sure what'll be next. we'll see in another year or two how tired our car is

I upgraded from my 2013 scion tC in October 2019 that I bought in cash to a 2020 IS300 that I leased. My mom works at Toyota so I got a $4500 discount off the price (Series 2 trim level) and another ~$500 off the maintenance package, so all in I'm driving a $48,000 car for $550 a month with a 23k buyout at the end of my 39 month lease. I also put $4500 deposit down on my lease to drop my interest rate from 0.9% to 0, so really my buyout is 19k.

Surely not the steal some people here get on things like leasebuster or leasehackr, but I was pretty happy for it being the first vehicle I've owned where I didn't just buy it in cash. I miss the manual in my tC, but my girlfriend has family a few hours away in Oshawa and the difference in noise inside the cabin is night and day on the highway. I haven't decided yet if I want to buy it out at the end or get something a little more practical/electric.

So my body chose to go to sleep and now buying into this seems trickier than it was last night. Probably for the best since it's the 28th and I try to do as little as possible since Jan 28th has a history of outright fucking me in the ass.

Anyone have suggestions on how to buy in now that it's gotten harder to find a place to buy from? My hunch is it's going to dip hard tomorrow morning and then go right back up, and I'd like to target that timeframe.

What is happening today: Short Ladder Attack, Market Manipulation, Strategy for today and tomorrow, how to not be silenced!

My fellow soldiers, I am utterly disgusted by what I am seeing today. I need to write something to get it all out and calm your paper hands.

What happened

Robinhood, webull, multiple other platforms banned buying shares of our favorite stocks, and a bunch of our stocks. This is clear and definitely market manipulation. They only allow people to sell. Please join the other threads to start a class action and file reports to the SEC! Citadel, Melvin, Point72, Robinhood, Webull, TD Ameritrade, they're all in bed together! They don't want retail investors like us to win and grab their yacht! THIS IS NOT PROHIBITION ERA!

Volume is insanely low, retail traders are sidelined, only hedge funds and institutions are trading. What does this mean? hedge funds are able to set the price since they're the only ones trading!

Short ladder attack. What is this? This is when hedge funds sell their shares repeatedly from hedge fund A to B to trigger the algo thinking there's a massive sell off. Nobody is actually selling the shares! I saw it over the drop from 450 to 230, there is only 3M volume, it's impossible to do so with a free market. What is this meant to do? Rattle retail investors like us, when we see the price dropping like crazy to sell off at whatever price it's at. Guess what? It didn't work! It dropped all the way until 155 and suddenly bounced back to 240 in a second. You will see this all day and it does not mean anything!!!!

Why today out of all days? The price went out of control up to 450, if it goes into tomorrow at that price, the gamma squeeze would be insane and it would send us to alpha centauri and beyond!

Leasing = good if you drive minimal miles, have good credit, and don't mind having a perpetual car payment. Buying = good if you plan on owning the car for more than 6 years and or drive a lot. Most of the cheapest leases now start at 10k miles a year for 3 years. Depending on how much travelling I want to do, like visiting my step mother, making a trip to Reno, etc I'm going to hit closer to 15k a year.

you can lease for up to 18k/yr without special allotment, just costs more as it hit the depreciation harder.
