point stands, putting money down on a lease is putting yourself underwater along with the depreciation. if you get in a wreck and total it, you're out that and depreciation hitting your car which will leave you in the red really bad.

It's not a deposit on the vehicle, it's a deposit on the lease financing. I get it back regardless.

I agree with you that next time I'll probably just accept that I'm paying interest and invest the deposit instead now that I have a bit of a better understanding of investing.

The thing is that when I traded with systems that will auto de-leverage and can close your position they are very transparent about it. Like it pops up when you enter a leveraged position, there is a tool-tip you can hover over, etc. These were incredibly predatory markets (Bitmex mainly) and they were still totally transparent about this.

I can't find anything anywhere on RH about this outside of what I presume is digging through 500 pages of ToS.
