If someone said "if you leave early due to a tornado siren you are going to be fired" I am not defending that in any way and I'm sure they're going to get sued and fined out of business if that's the case. Again I have no idea how long you have to safely reach cover once a siren is going off but I still imagine the intent is not so you can get in your car but to shelter in place?
All the managers had to do in either location was say "you can go but the best thing to do in an emergency is shelter in place so we highly stress that you shouldn't leave," and they'd be legally in the clear. Saying "try to leave work during this deadly tornado and you're fired" is a much different animal.

If this is the end it was a good ride![]()
But of course it's not truly the end, because while the bill enlarging the CTC was for all of 2021, they only started monthly payouts in July - so whenever families file their tax returs they'll get the other 6 months worth in a lump sum.
Really the CTC doesn't "end" until July 2022.
Except we already get a CTC so this adds what, exactly?
So at the minimum everyone would get $3300, which is $1300 more than last year?
Check your math but yes, $3000 instead of 2k for 6-17, $3600 instead of $2000 for 0-5, and paid monthly instead of all at tax time.
I'm talking about for the remaining 6 months.
This is worse than people publishing scientific papers like "studies show if you take medicines to decrease symptoms the symptoms decrease".
Work accidents going down is pretty easy to explain with "people not going to work as much".
Jobs that are able to be remote aren't exactly high on the ladder of unsafe work environments.
