I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't other continents we're going to, but other worlds that we're working on restoring.

By the end of the extra quests, it's confirmed that Cylva and Unukalhai are both from a world that is now the World of Darkness, and are both working on how they could possibly restore that world

And if y'all are gonna tell me you'd rather go on adventures with that mishmash of awful NPC characters rather than Alphy and Alisaie, then y'all a buncha morons. Yeah I said it

    Spoiler: show
I think once the conflict between hyd and zod is over we'll adopt Zenos and he'll become our Vegeta to spur on our characters need to continue to get stronger to keep him in check while he does the same. Throwing out little sparing matches every so often to test if we've gone soft or not. As for the saving other worlds, there aren't any that I think would need to be saved? The first was only in the state it was because it was being hamstrung along by ascian intervention to purge all darkness from the star to make it list toward a calamaity and spill over into the source which would have wiped out the first and cost significant amount of life on the source in the process.

Our time galavanting on other worlds I think is a one and done deal unless to prevent another calamity, there are certainly plenty more unsundered out there but they don't give a fuck about wanting to return the source to the way it was, they want to do things on their own without shackle or order. Old Sharlayan being on the board lends Old World a potential place for us to visit. I think beyond the scope of the story and whatever new threat presents itself New World is more or less where we will likely end up going, maybe directed by Midgarsormr to go find Azdaja for something.

Personally, I see the World of Darkness rebuilding as something that could be future exploration content, like Eureka.

The Thirteenth is definitely a potential future candidate for something, optional quests in Shadowbringers made that pretty clear. Really feels like they built that up to leave that as a potential option in case it's something they want to explore. Not sure whether it'll be an expansion, raid, Eureka or something else though. I can see the Reaper job delving into that though.

Out of the 13 shards (plus the source), there has been 7 Rejoinings, putting us at 8/14, so there's only 6 worlds left. Excluding World of Darkness that puts us at 5 worlds total. There's definitely a possibility that future expansions will take place in one of those worlds.

We know the next expansion will take place at least in part on the third unexplored continent (Ilsabard) where The Garlean Empire is, as well as Old Sharlayan and Thavnair. My guess is that the expansion will start off with taking us to Old Sharlayan, and will then take us to Rads-at-Han on Thavnair and have us travel north towards The Garlean Empire.

The third continent is huge though, larger than Aldenard and Othard, so they could potentially add more zones there in future expansions.

Also, let's not forget that the dragons are literal aliens who travelled to this world, there's any number of potential things they could do in future expansions with that.

Maybe the dragons were fleeing something that's stronger than even a fully-powered dragon and whatever they were fleeing decides to follow them to Hydaelyn so now we need to travel to their homeworld to fight them. Space invaders, hell yeah!

In all seriousness though, I'm curious to see the direction they take. They did say that the Ascian story would officially wrap up in 6.0 and the patches after that would build up for the new story rather than how they've done previous expansions. Since they said they'd like a new story that arches several expansions again it'd need to be a larger threat that rivals that of the Ascians. I don't feel like "restoring the Thirteenth" would do that.

What I would like to see is an overhaul of the underlying system in FFXIV though, kind of like a relaunch of the game to allow them to improve the graphics and various other systems. 7.0 feels like a good place to do a fresh start.

The dragons were not fleeing Omega. They were fleeing *something* that attacked their home planet, and Omega was a weapon sent to follow and find them. But they were fleeing so ridiculously long that somewhere along the way Omega had time to ponder the meaning of life and have an existential crisis and gained sentience.

I'm just ready to finally find out the source of the "noise" that gave the Amarautians the bad dreams that lead to all this. This is why you don't gift people the power to reshape reality around them. Like the Joker said: "All it takes is one bad day..."

Was it an eldritch abomination, sleeping at the core of the planet? Was it Lavos?!!!!!

This is what I'm hoping for too. Though I'm still willing to bet money Fandaniel was somehow behind it.

I wonder, though. He's a sundered, which means he didn't technically exist as he is now back then. Only the unsundered were around back then as a whole being. Its possible that he remembers some of his unsundered memories and his character was just a dick of an Amarautian back then, lol. We never did actually see any dissention amongst the populace in Emet Selch's recreation, but that was just that... a recreation: one subject to his own biases and memories.

I could be overlooking or missing something but is there any proof he isn't unsundered? I'm just assuming he's responsible for The Final Days because it's way too convenient he was able to put his operations into motion so quickly after Elidibus was defeated. That and his whole "I want everything dead" reveal and plan leading to the events of Endwalker seem to have some parallels to The Final Days where all life in the world is coming close to ending by the hands of monsters.

Where exactly do you learn about the “noise?” Was it a side quest in Amaurot because I can’t remember that bit from the MSQ.

Elidibus, or maybe it was Emmet, stated there were only three Ancients who escaped unsundered. The third being Lahabrea.

Fandaniel also explicitly stated he was waiting for the unsundered to be out of the way in order to be free to initiate his plan.

I think it was a bit earlier in the core release of the story when Emet is explaining that Hydalen and Zodiark were actually primals and how they came to be summoned. I think it was also mentioned during or around the Amaurot dungoen.

Ah my bad. Then maybe he did remember his memories or something. Hopefully we'll get some light next patch

Yeah, it's brought up when you're exploring Amaurot during the main story quest. Here's a dialogue blurb from the quest The End of a World:

Have you not heard? Though yet confined to the lands across the sea, a terrible phenomenon afflicts our star. They are calling it the “Final Days.”

'Tis said it starts suddenly, a cacophonous keening from beneath the earth. The sound distorts all living things within earshot, and wrests from us control of our creation magicks.

Once that happens, all is lost. Fear, pain, despair...every dread impulse is siphoned from our minds and given substance: an eternal fall of fiery rain; an incessant spawning of nightmarish beasts...

None can point to the source of the phenomenon. 'Tis as if the star itself has fallen ill─as if a force inimical to life now festers and spreads.

'Tis only a matter of time until Amaurot, too, resounds to that discordant squall. You should stay with your loved ones, child... Stay with them...

And I'm sure it's talked about at other times too

know wikis are fanmade and can be wrong but according to the FF wiki Fandaniel is trying to set up the hunting ground for Zenos by recreating the conditions for the Final Days. Since he knows that there's a decent chance he is unsundered. Maybe he kept his presence secret?

I'm pretty sure when sundered Ascians are created they regain memories of their original self (Eden's storyline confirms that too I'd say). Which means he could have been waiting and plotting his plans since forever.

Fandaniel being behind the Final Days would be horribly anticlimactic and honestly I don't see it. I think he's someone that went mad after millennias of having to follow the unsundereds and is just over it all, lol.
