My computer is getting old, but I am waiting for Zen4 I think. It is good enough for now, but, maybe we should have a separate benchmark thread?

I’m hoping, since 6.0 is the end of the story thwy’ve been building since 2.0 launched, that they’ll do a larger system, graphics, ui/ux and infrastructure overhaul for 7.0, as well as drop PS3 support. They could improve the game so much by redesigning some of those things.

I can understand a lot of those things (infrastructure and battle system especially) were left intact between 1.0 and 2.0 as they might not have wanted to overcommit on a (at the time) failing game, but now that the game has been successful for years and is still gaining traction, it makes sense to modernize some of those systems.

PS3 support dropped when Stormblood launched.

If you meant PS4 support, I imagine it will be dropped eventually, but the scarcity of PS5 at the moment is certainly holding them back from this. It might be 7.0 or later before PS4 is discontinued.

I don't see any reason why they'd drop PS4, it's probably locked in until the game hits life-support mode like XI. It's the cheapest entry-level machine to run XIV at non-toaster settings, and the game at this point in its life is not going to get major overhauls that would suddenly require beefier specs to handle more grandiose setups/encounters (144 people blinking in/out while smacking Eureka mobs is the worst we'll ever see in content that isn't S-rank Hunt spankathons). They're going to stick with their formula until the game dies.

^ Exactly. I just want to see the next FF MMO get the red carpet treatment, designed by and for PCs, and downscaled when needed to run on consoles, and not designed by fucking morons stuck in the early 2000's.

Also, no fucking custom FF graphic engines. Use goddamn unreal like everyone else and be done with it. Design the game assuming that it will be a success, and design for the future, from the beginning. Consider inventory space, graphical updates, large crowds.

Basically don't treat the game like its XIV 2.0., like Tanaka and his moron crew tried to do with 1.0 and XI. Also, try not to lie to your bosses when they ask for updates on the game, swearing that it was farther along than it was.

Christ, 1.0 was such a dumpster fire.

Score was fine, I guess? In game though, I definitely get CPU fucked in the overworld, towns or in places like Bozja where there's a lot of players nearby. Runs fine in 8-24 mans though. Hoping I can build a new PC next year. Built this one in 2014ish I think.

That's the only thing that's deceiving about the benchmark. It's just a glorified cutscene player playing back scripted events which mostly just means your GPU doing the gruntwork. It doesn't reflect your actual game performance.

There's some parts that stress the cpu (mainly the bits with loads of models on screen at once) but as with all synthetic benchmarks the cpu test is shorter than the gpu test

I’m not caught up wit the MSQ yet, but does anyone seriously care about Zenos? I don’t get why he’s a prevalent character in the main cinematic when they’ve spent so much time and effort making him an unsympathetic villain compared to other Garleans. I bore of him.

Yeah, I think most of us were over him long ago and really cringed when he came back. Maybe they'll make him somewhat interesting in Endwalker though, who knows...

I like him for what he was but he has no business being a recurring villain as he is unless the story team has something up their sleeve for him. Even then, with the way the Japanese love their tropes, I'm not getting my hopes up.
