There is no way Endwalker is gonna live up to the massive hype people are placing on it.

Yeah, including me. I mentioned a while back that I'm fairly sure one of the last zones will be the Aetherial Sea or something, with the Mother Crystal being one of the last dungeons/trials.

The Ascian names are taken straight out of FFXII, so I'm guessing the final boss will be against Venat and/or Hydaelyn, similar to FFXII, so a Mother Crystal dungeon (like the one seen in FFXII) makes sense.

What confuses me about the trailer though is that Fandaniel seems to have changed his tune, and I'm wondering why and how. In the game he seems to just want chaos, but in the trailer he seems to want to bring order, which makes sense since Fandaniel in FFXII and Tactics is "Fandaniel the Protector, scion of light" and had a desire to bring order to all things. He was created in opposition to Hashmal, which is why Fandaniel's mask (in FFXIV) is the inner part of Hashmal's symbol, so I'm guessing Fandaniel's Ascian name is "Hashmal bringer of Order" whereas his "normal" name is "Fandaniel the Protector," like we are "Azem the Wanderer."

I've theorized that he hasn't changed his tune, so much as he's always been putting on an act. There is actually a clever hint at this in his speech with Lunar Bahamut at the end of 5.4. When he's talking about "not caring about restoring the one true world" he give a cheeky little wink to the WoL as if signaling he's lying.

Honest question, I don't get it, and I don' tknow where to look, what are they raging about? That was pretty cool, I am not sure if I think it lines up perfectly all the sequences, but I don't see anything to rage about o.O?

True, it's possible it's an act just to get on Zenos' good side or something.

I'm going deep in to conspiracy territory now.

The beauty of the Esper symbols in FFXII is that they're essentially two different symbols, depending on which side is up. Hashmal's symbol is a perfect example of that, as is Zalera's.

This brings me to my next theory, that The Twelve are the "light" version of the dark ascians. That is, the ones that summoned Hydaelyn, and their masks will be the upside-down versions of of those the dark ascians use. Venat's mask is actually eeringly similar to the inner part of the upside-down sign that Elidibus use, and they are both the heart of Hydaelyn and Zodiark.

Azem, the fourteenth seat and who we are, is the traveler and aligned with the sun, likely due to the sun "traveling" over the sky. There's a god called "Azeyma", that is aligned with the sun. I highly doubt that's a coincidence. One of the gods are also called Menphina, who has the moon as her symbol. I doubt it's a coincidence that Minfilia's name is so close to that name, and that Minfilia just happen to be the "Word of the Mother".

Another god is Thaliak the scholar, and is the patron of Sharlayan. I'm guessing he might have been the one that gave Nyunkrepf Nyunkrepsyn is vision, but Thaliak might even have been Nyunkrepf Nyunkrepsyn like I suspect Minfilia is Menphina. Thaliak is, after all, the god of water and knowledge, and Nyunkrepf Nyunkrepsyn predicted the great flood and built the giant ship (which is stranded at The Peaks) which saved him and his followers, and then eventually went on to found Sharlayan.

Nald'thal is actually two gods in one as they're twins, which together with Venat put them at an even fourteen, just like the dark Ascians (together with Azem) makes fourteen. Azem actually defected from the convocation of fourteen and has his seat empty, so it's possible he went to the others to help them out, hence why Azem and Azeyma are so similar. It's possible that our twins cary the soul of Nald'thal, but theur personalities don't match that of Nald'thal, so that doesn't make sense.

But, as Shadowbringers taught us, light and dark does not necessarily mean good and evil. The Ascians themselves use the names of the light scions from Final Fantasy tactics, but the "dark" names of the Espers that were made to counter them in their "true" form, with the exception of Ehmet Selch which use "Hased" isntead of Zalera, despite using Zalera's symbol. Although that may be due to his symbol being the upside-down version of Zalera's symbol, not sure if that makes a difference in FFXIV lore.

Weird take considering it’s been exceeding most peoples’ expectations for the last couple years. Why would they suddenly become bad at storytelling

Wouldn't surprise me but if we get a good conclusion and go out with a bang it works for me.

I wonder how they'll do the next story. Stretch it over multiple expansions like they did this one? Or make them smaller where it's concluded at release and tge postgame story leads to the next.

Does he legit wink? I might have to revisit that cutscene because I don’t remember that at all.

Never said the storytelling will be bad, far from it. People are expecting Shadowbringers/Heavensward+1 and we'll probably get Stormblood part Deux. I'll be fine either way, I had no problems with any of the expansions thus far.

Why would you think we're getting Stormblood? SB main issue was it tried to do two separate storylines in one go, I'm pretty sure they learned from what. And I believe in the mighty pen of Ishikawa!

I'm not sure the problem with SB was so much the split, but that the story moves dummy slow until Yanxia.

Pretty sure the problem with the Stormblood storyline is that it sucked.

I'm just tempering my expectations and hoping SE does knock it out of the park. I'm always weary whenever something has such an insane amount of hype.

You’re totes allowed to set your expectations as you see fit especially if it helps you enjoy what you’re given, just think it’s odd that you’re expecting an outcome akin to one of the least popular storylines when they’ve likely put more time, effort, and consideration into this one than any one prior
