NIN and DNC look nice too. Haven't touched NIN yet but would be nice to see if DNC is still weak or not.

Also got WHM to 90 last night sinceI tried Sage, failed the tutorial and realized it wasn't for me. Think the healer role quest is tied with physical DPS as my favorite.

It got some DPS buffs but it still gets meme’d on because Living Dead sucks and the other tanks got really good new defensive cooldowns. DRK is still highest DPS of the tank classes, and is good in raids, just has difficulty with wall to wall dungeons pulls while the other tanks can go brrrrrr and do them half asleep

DNC buffs seem pretty solid or the Reaper in my PT was godly. Finished Smileton in about 12.5 minutes.

So new raid theory I had this morning:

    Spoiler: show
Our Lahabrea is Ericthonious, who is promoted to the seat after we defeat Hephaestus in the raid series (this is a common theory right now). My additions to this theory is that its Ericthonious who is sending us the memory stone through the lifestream, after his soul dissipated from Nidhogg's eye after the events of Stormblood.

Next live letter will be February 18th, notably this is NOT the 6.1 live letter but rather the Endwalker recap/where do we go from here live letter.

claiming they have a 10 year long road map of their next events, I kind of doubt it's a road map that stretches that far. For whatever reason regardless that he has spoken that this is not the end people still screech that this game is done and over with and that it will run to an end of service or something soon.

Wasn’t it a roadmap about where the game and story will head for the next 10 years and not the live letters? Granted, they do kind of go hand-in-hand

Eh, planning ahead for 10 years doesn't really sound all that unreasonable to me. Setting up major plot points and then filling out the in-between is something you don't need years to do, but can also be done incrementally along the way. I mean, we can figure they've got another year and change out of EW alone in this regard.

The real wildcard is things like graphic/texture updates, continued overhauls of systems like what they did with belts or finally improving the glamour system. Part of me feels like there is a limit to battle mechanics they're probably encroaching when it comes to being sensible toward the average player. How they handle ability bloat is also a valid concern, though I really wish they'd turn all the 1-2-3 combos into morphic buttons already.

At the very least, I trust Yoshi to have more of a 10 year plan than Epic Seven claimed they did a while back. The .x patches are probably more than that game did in like a year and we can figure XIV puts out like 3-4 in a given year.

They've spent 8 years from 1.0's dumpster, rebuilding trust, and people still don't believe what they say? The man has stressed in countless interviews that the number one priority for them in establishing trust with the player-base. If players think they're full of shit, this entire thing would have failed.

I highly doubt it's the end of FFXIV. Honestly, if anything it's probably the opposite. They're finally free of the restraints story-wise that 1.0 created for them, and they can finally build their own story. The game has the most players it's ever had and a much larger budget than they've had before. They're free to take the game in any direction they want, and there's SO much we've yet to explore of the world. The only thing still holding them back is the old tech and code from 1.0 which leads to some inconvenient restrictions on things like the glamour system, but I'm hoping now that they have a larger budget and more players, they can work on maybe replacing that old code.

I'd be into an overhaul of the original character models + new faces. Ended up going with a male Viera because the face and character animations seem that much better than the original races...

They are vastly overdue on removing the "Type" system that's been in place since 1.0. Too bad the way they treated the new races having even more duct tape/limitations give me zero hope of them ever rectifying that at this point in the game's life given that's a monumental undertaking given how all the facial features are modeled and tailored to each individual face model ("Type").

Most you can hope for is updated textures (a lot of the newer 6.0 armor feels like it's running 2x the resolution of older ones?), but nothing short on overhauling say, the game's blatant abuse of overly stretched & obviously tiled textures in the environment. Maybe they'll unfuck its lighting engine in the fields one day or bring about better shaders. It's been a decade since v1.0, any modern toaster can more than easily handle the shit that the devs tried with it back then that made some aspects of the original look vastly cleaner/softer than the shimmering mess that is ARR.

Isn't this how they've always done things? They pre-plan the major story beats, what the locations to visit should be (and proper rough-sketch maps for them so the writers can plan around a revisit-stage), and then throw it off to the scenario writer(s) to figure out what to do with the characters between those parts.

I want to say yes, but I also need to remind myself that some people think MMOs are dying when multiple new hardcore raids aren't being added every 3 months. If anything, I feel XIV would benefit more from deviating from this outdated and unreasonable expectation, but this would also mean taking more steps to make the open world matter, reinvent the housing system so it's not a dumpster fire, make crafting/gathering more useful, etc.. And to supplement the cash cow aspect relative to the recent popularity boom, they should also really be hiring more artists to make/improve gear art.

That said, I would certainly appreciate an overhaul of character creation, but in my own tinkering with 3D models for vtubing purpose lately, anything that would risk breaking a standard rigging protocol would pretty much fuck up /everything/ tied to character graphics and motions. The best we can hope for there is just better textures. And I imagine 3-4 years we'll be talking about the PS4 getting dropped, too.

Are there any tips to leveling crafters? Feels ungodly slow compared to gathering.
