Asmongold back today and started off with heavy shit. Admitted he has felt super stressed out taking care of his elderly parents, no other family in Texas to help him, his mother has mobility issues and hoarder tendencies and those two together make it very difficult for her to get around the house on her own. Asmon feels guilty like he is enabling it. Said he’s been dealing with bouts of depression and contemplated suicide many times but he says he is too much of a pussy (his words) to actually do it. Says he is going to tone down the Asmongold character on stream a lot and just be more himself and hope that helps take some pressure off.

Dude needs help. Not only with his obvious depression and admitted suicidal thoughts but help with his parents as well. Hope it works out for him.

If you wanna get a backstory on Asmongold's life. Highly recommend this video despite it being 2 hours. Honestly recommend watching Dr.K's videos in general if you're into mental health stuff.

Isn't that what fat stacks of money gets you in life? Help?

I'm confused. What's he spending it on if not for things to make life more convenient?

my dude that is not how mental health works. It's not something you just throw money at and suddenly everything gets better.

He's reached Stormblood and viewed the trailer. In terms of presentation, this trailer was definitely weak and out of place; the Heavensward and Shadowbringers trailer was dramatic and had an accompanying song. I haven't seen Stormblood's trailer for such a long time, so rewatching it now was a little jarring!

The Endwalker trailer of course continues what HW and Shadowbringers trailer did.

It could also be that his family doesn't want that. A lot of people see that kind of help as invasive. Especially when suffering from mental illness. That kind of help won't do anything but create stressor if the root issue isn't getting help.

He shared a bit more today on stream. So it's not mental (alzheimer/dementia) as I also thought it was, but it was in fact his mother who smokes a lot and is having trouble breathing. As Druin said, his mother does not want help and Asmon is trying to becareful not to overstep or be too forceful.

That's such a hard place to be at. I really feel for the guy. Being put in a situation like that can really do some seriously lasting damage to someone in Asmon's position. I hope he really does find some help, even if it's just someone from him to talk with about his mental health issues and personal life struggles. The two interviews he did with Dr. K/Healthy Gamer were sad to watch. His parental situation seems like it's been rough for a number of years now.

Pretty much where my dad is, too. Too prideful to accept he needs help with shit and lets things go thinking he'll get around to it eventually, but never does. Meanwhile, while my mom has her own issues, she's also a hypochondriac drama queen that lets the stupid decisions of my sisters (who never help us) dominate her days. Just having someone come in a couple days a week to help with stuff would do wonders around here, but they don't want to pay for it. All this while my own body is falling apart due to repeated injury because they still think I'm an immortal teenager.

His reactions have been the best.

Also, I love how much he did a 180 on his feelings about the rejoinings as soon as Emet shoots the Exarch. The whole expansion he's been "yeah why wouldn't we want the world to be whole again" then "HOW DARE YOU SHOOT MY CRYSTAL DICKED BOYFRIEND! DIE YOU BASTARD AND FUCK ZODIARK TOO!"

I'm so ready for him to get to the end and see Ardbert hand him the axe. I feel it will be so satisfying.
