Ladder only is dumb, but seems we're still stuck in the dark ages of forcing people to throw away past efforts to enjoy new things within ARPGs. Will otherwise wait to see what the skill adjustments and new RWs look like, especially whether or not the latter are something people could actually hope to make.

Spirit used to be ladder only and is Tal/Thul/Ort/Amn. Super cheap. Insight also used to be ladder only and is Ral/Tir/Tal/Sol, also super cheap.

My sorc has different magic find, may try farming Andy again on hell. Just ridiculous how bad my luck has been with low level drops. I had to do like 5 Crypt/Mausoleum runs just to finally get a string of ears for my paladin, not counting how many runs I did on that with my sorc when I started. Pretty sure I've seen every ring drop Andy has as well besides Raven frost and SoJ.

We had one in our closed group, and we nearly lost it due to a lag spike. Friend asked me to sit in his game with corpse loot rights while he did his Andy/Meph/Pindle/Baal run, and something went horribly wrong on Pindleskin where his sorc just rubber banded everywhere and exploded.

Stupid dumb question on adding sockets via cube. It's random between 1-6 (or whatever the max) an item can take, correct? Or is it strictly one socket only?

Neither actually. I guess it's technically "random" for the 1-6 sockets in your example if the maximum is 6 sockets, but the game will always roll for 6 with the cube recipe regardless of what the maximum actually is. And if you roll above the maximum for the item, you'll get whatever the max is.

So if an armor can get 4 sockets, you have 1/6 chance of getting 1/2/3 sockets and a 3/6 chance of getting 4.

i think the most interesting change was with zons and impale, maybe having a good uber build now

otherwise i think most of the changes were about giving upgrades to skills and mercs people never use. i think the majority of this won't change any metas but will give you more build options to level with

The melee assassin changes are pretty cool, that's a major change for how that entire tree works

Individual skill cooldowns should be nice too.

I'm curious how a Blizz / Frozen Orb Sorc will work out now with being able to alternate them.

I was definitely team #nochanges, but new runewords and balance changes (buffs only) to weak trees doesn't seem like the end of the world. As long as they don't do some dumb shit like put a cooldown on Teleport.

Nice. Looks like they are indeed doing it in the least objectionable way possible. Most of the skill changes aren't really going to change the meta, but should make diversity less painful to play. Cooldowns are the big thing and will probably change up the builds for Sorcs and Druids, with VT Paladins likely becoming the new champions of duels.

Unfortunate that they had to decimate Ghostsin's in the process as they were my favorite to play. But I imagine they required less finesse with quickbars now anyway.

Act 3 Mercs giving Enchant has the potential to be insane, but I think they missed the boat with some of these new merc runewords. Mist should be something A3 mercs can use instead of bows, because it's never going to be better than Faith. Unbending Will is OK for early game if you want the A5 merc to tank, but Fal is probably too high a rune for that usage. And you'd never use it for anything else because Taunt will override curses people actually want.

unless you have grief, death, or breath of the dying, unbending will becomes the best melee barb weapon regardless of your spec and fal can be found from hell countess

the only time you wouldn't use it is if you're using dracs, and the only time you absolutely have to use dracs is against ubers, at which point unbending will isn't a strong enough weapon anyway

like right now my frenzy barb has a djinn slayer in his off-hand... unbending will is better in every way possible

Nah, even budget options like Lawbreaker is way better in the offhand for Frenzy. It's made to be a Merc item.
